I was at this meeting having to do with peace and all that right. We spilt into two different groups to do this excercise. (not actual aerobics or anything like that a learning thing. We get bacvk into the one big group to tell what we learned. And this lady says well we talked about how progressives and tea party people arand there state of mind. we took the side of the progressives well because were all ladies and were progressive. She went on to say that they wished they had a tea party perspective there.

So I appoarched the lady said well I remember you saying that you wished you had a tea party person well I will take that perspective. she said okay. I started by saying what is it that you don;t understand about tea partiers. She said how they don;t understand. I asked they don;t understand what? progressives? She said they just dont understand people and everything in general. I said well tea party people feel that there rights and liberties are being taken away and trampled do progressive's feel that way too? She said yes. I said do you think that tea partiers and progressive's can come together on that fact, that we both feel that our rights and liberties are being taken? She said yes.

I went on to say that there is going to be deviseness there but would it be possible to leave that devisiveness there and move beyond that and come together on the fact that our rights and liberties are at stake. Because without our rights and liberites we can;t move forward on other issues.

So what do YOU think will progressives and tea partier's be able to come together and gain back inalienable right and liberties or will the system/Empire continue to divide and conquer?

I guess you have not been paying attention. The US government can come into your home without a warrant. Arrest you. Torture you. Hold you without trial for as long as they like. "legally"
Just because it has not happened to you personally does not mean that it can't, or won't. Go try and peacefully protest and see if you feel the same way.

As far at the thread go I think there is common ground. I believe that anti-war, anti-globalization, anti-corporate far left have a great deal in common with the libertarian right. Both sides are strongly opposed to the warfare state, and the police state. Really everything else is secondary in importance right now. Not that the rest is not dire, but only less dire. Who cares if you want a welfare state or not. You will never have it as long as the empire rules the world. Just like you will never have sound fiscal policy with an imperialist foreign policy. Your never gonna have workers rights, or individual liberty in a police state.
If everyone was not so busy proving who can piss farther we would see the common ground. It really is the only chance the country has. That right/left paradigm is quite a good way to keep people impotent. The natural human desire to prove someone wrong, and glorify the ego never seems to end. Even when our livelihood is at stake. The worse things get the more we attack our political opposites as if they are responsible.

Let's start with the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, the right to free speech, the right to peaceably assemble and for the petitioning of government for a redress of grievances.

Los Angeles gets tough with political protesters For acts of political protest that his predecessor treated as mere infractions, Los Angeles City Atty. Carmen Trutanich is seeking jail time.

Should we move on to the Second Amendment? The right to keep and bear arms...

We can skip the Third Amendment for now. It prohibits, in peacetime, the quartering of soldiers in private homes without the owner's consent.

Let's go to the Fourth Amendment, the right which guards against unreasonable searches and seizures when the searched party has a "reasonable expectation of privacy"

Need I keep going? Your rights aren't being taken away all at once, they are being slowly encroached upon. One day you will wake up and find them gone and wonder how it happened if you don't see what's happening now.

I love the "I havent been bothered so nothing is wrong" crowd. Most Germans in Nazi Germany werent bothered either....as long as you werent a Jew, a Gypsy, a Homosexual....you were pretty much left alone.

So I gather that the only way people like you will even consider the FACT that they are whittling away at our rights and freedoms every day is when they come for YOU personally. But dont worry, those that could help you will probanbly say.....they havent bothered me yet so screw him.

Progressives and Tea Party people see the same problems.
They just have different solutions to those same problems.

Tea Party wants less government control and a return to personal responsibiliy.

Progressives see government taking a more active role in determining what we can do with our lives.

survivalstation gave you a good starting point. Unfortunately, he actually could have kept going with more.

That's the idea. Ever heard the old tale regarding boiling a frog? Toss a frog into a pot of boiling water and they'll jump out immediately; however, put one in a pot of room temperature water, then slowly start turning up the heat, and it acclimatizes to the gradual change. By the time the frog realizes something is wrong (if it even does at all) it's too late.

The disconnect is in the fact that you're failing to realize the "rights" you believe you still possess have largely transitioned into "privileges"; and, since you're still allowed to utilize those privileges, you never "felt" any change.

Waking up to the fact that your "rights" have been replaced with "privileges" can be a scary realization. I wish you the best through that transition.

Umm.. Progressives are the enemy of Tea Party. It is like saying the USA(Tea Party) should align with Nazi Germany (Progressives) to rescue the people being tortured and killed by the Nazi Regime(Progressive Top Circle). It is just nonsensical.
