Raytheon offers 'pain gun' to troubled India

www.rawstory.com

BANGALORE, India (AFP) – US defence group Raytheon says it wants to sell India a controversial "pain gun" it claims would be safer than rubber bullets in quelling unrest in the insurgency-racked country.

The Silent Guardian Protection System is billed by its makers as the 21st century equivalent of tear gas or water cannon -- a way to subdue rioters while inflicting minimal harm.

The US military withdrew the weapon last year from war-torn Afghanistan amid opposition from human rights activists worried about its safety. The US army has never commented on why it withdrew the system.

"Governments of the world! Are you worried about a Tunisian or Egyptian styled revolt, or mass dissent against your predatory and victimizing policies? Well we have THE answer for you! Let our PAIN GUN take care of the problem and disperse those unhappy civilians in the blink of an eye, as you microwave and boil them alive!"

"Send them scurrying in unbelievable agony, and don't worry about any long term complications from RADIATING them! There is no VISIBLE damage, so who cares if you are destroying their DNA! Problem solved, dissent CRUSHED!"

"And all for the incredible price of (fill in the blank) billion dollars! But wait! There's more!...(carry on with the standard sales pitch)...

Gotta love the war and weapons industy...Never let a good crisis go to waste on an opportunity to cash in selling their weapons of suffering...

Heard this thing talked about before.

Its ingenious but horrifying. I have a feeling the people working on this haven't really thought it through.

Press release must be like this...

"Come and see the new Raytheon 'Torture-o-matic', Simply build a room with a place in the middle of the floor with restraints and we will install one of our wonderful devices into the roof. Bring in your pesky human rights activist and strap him down. We guarantee you will have hours of fun synthetically burning him alive. Of course since its only the sensation of burning they wont actually escape through death (don't you just hate it when that happens).

We interviewed test subjects and found that 99 of 100 had lost their sanity completely after less than 37 hours exposure.

Torture-o-matic, the future of repression.

*For an additional fee we can mount on an airship for wide area repression."

Yes. You could ask him how he sleeps at night?

Or perhaps Raytheon have a gizmo to cauterize the conscience too.

But if that question might be seen as a little too challenging then, yeah. Any inside info would be interesting
