Anon is NOT freedom fighters
freedom fighters are freedom fighters.
Anon is chaotic neutral..they stand for nothing, they are ruled by no set principles, they are just anonymous..be it to topple a evil government, or spread child porn..either could happen.

People need to stop seeing anonymous as some sort of "good" thing. goto the chans and lurk, you will see clearly what your dealing with.

ANON will not use it to target Iran as that is not their targets. Their targets are those trying to shut both it an Wiki down as their beef is not with Tehran.

Bolded the part a few of you seem to be missing.

The question is why anybody would take the effort to reverse engineer Windows exploits that have already been fixed by the vendor. With the exploits for the engineering software and SCADA application that’s different, but few people have recognized; hackers, CERT people and journalists not among them.

They may be chaotic neutral of sorts, but can you give me some evidence that anonymous have so called spread child porn?

You might be confusing your case with the relatively rare chance of such stuff appearing on 4chan, (whereby the poster is usually hunted down and reported to the police).

C'mon.

Was using that as an example of how randomness is the only real factor associated with anon...not white knight, not black knight, just gray.

One thing they will unite against is freedom of speech issues and anonymous surfing...anything else is not on the main agenda (except for destroy scientology for the lulz)

The stuxnet binaries have been on sites like offensive computing for months and this decompilation offers no new insight at all. All that has been done is that the codes have been decompiled via boomerang and posted on git. The output is absolutely useless as there is no breakthrough.

Laurelai, the person who posted it and an active member on irc, did a write-up on crowdleaks, found here:-
HBGary wanted to suppress Stuxnet research

How can you provide evidence of the absence of something? i think the correct thing for you to do would be to supply some evidence if you think anon is a government scheme,,,,,

I think anon should develop it into a self replicating virus which is only worried about its survival and rename it skynet. Unleash it on the internet targeting the major corrupt corporations, namely the banking/wall street cronies.

I will be the Commander of the forces.

What I think most people fail to realize is that Stuxnet can be freely downloaded at numerous security forums by anyone who takes a minute to sign up to the forum and validate their email address. I know of at least 6 places to download it not counting private trackers that it's slowly being spread around at. I don't think Anon having is near as scary as knowing that some ignorant kid could get a hold of it and think it would be funny to spread around.

i think most people realize the limitations of trying to use the virus and the fact the that it is available online. in realism the virus is highly unlikley to be used by anon. it is sosphicated in nature and would take a large team to render it useful. this however this thread has been useful in highlighting present cyber warfare and bringing discusion on the activties of anon and how they are percieved. maybe that was the intention of anon when they annouced they had the virus, maybe not. eho knows...

As it was stated earlier, Microsoft has patched all the holes it uses so it's pretty much useless now.

I am not too worried, I know when Al Gore created the internet he planned for these type of contingencies.

If anon want to start being actual cyber terrorists then let them work with and put out/use the controller side of stuxnet, I don't see that happing as they will be hunted. If they want to continue being twats and jumping on bandwagons as shown by what they have done in the past they can do it a lot easier with tools all ready out in the wild.

Edit - No stars for anyone with actual info, lame will have to sort that.

Edit - hbgary-wanted-to-suppress-stuxnet-research

Poor headline is poor.

I guess that headline was chosen because of one email

HBGary has no official position on Stuxnet. Please do not comment to the press on Stuxnet. We know nothing about Stuxnet.

Not everything is released in papers not everything has to be released. The emails that site chose do not show that hbgary wanted to suppress research but then it is an anon site so no surprise really.

anon are working on a website atm, so people can browse through the hbgary information and emails. Then people will be aable to make up there own minds..
and why are you calling anon twats they have done a lot of work. Helping to secure and mirror wikleaks site. setting up routes so people can circumnavigate governmental firewalls in represive regimes. Helping by sending information into counties were information is censored. supporting the global protests by taking down government websites and peacefully protesting by ddos on sites like mastercard and visa. They have helped expose information that needs to be in the public eye
what is wrong with that..?

Do some research on suxnet, try watching the video i linked in the op for example. the virus is not useless just becuase windows have patched a few more holes. maybe the virus would be useless if windows patched all there holes and we know that is not going to happen. suxnet represents a paradigm shift, the idea of what it is, the code andhow it operates will remain.

Well STUXnet was a inside job that involed Microsoft and Siemens. Microsoft did not patch the holes even after STUXnet was found so it would keep doing what it was doing. The Russian antivirus company was the one who first started pluging holes. And Siemens password for reseting its controllers was leaked and it was only known to a couple of people and was kept as a trade secert. Maybe the NSA knew what the password was as part of its patent process who knows. But then theres the part where the US issues certificates for software to say its legit and the US issued certificates for STUXnet saying it was a legit software and antivirus software should allow it to make changes to the computers as a needed driver update. Remeber the nuclear power plant was first built in the 80's and the computers and the software are from the 80's. The Russians are updating drivers and software on the whole place so it was easy to sneak a fake patch or driver update through when you have all the right software companies doing what ever you want. I guess alll those billions Bush spent on creating SIPRnet and the rest bought some good friends in high places for hacking any computer.

PS MIcrosoft did end up with a military contract to supply Windows 8 to the military. Thats one big buy off concidering Microsft has allways tryed for a military contract for Windows software and was allways told "NO, your software is to vunerable to hacking."
