While I may be risking sounding like a bigot, I can't help but notice that events like this are what breed racism. to even acknowledge the separation seems to be racist.

Human history is human history. I don't seem to be alone on this. If you google white history month the question seems to get asked a lot. And I am surprised to hear so many views from that search that thinks that ALL white people have had a comfortable history surrounded by servants and silk. that is BS!!

My age group never did anything to offend other races, we embraced it as far as i can tell. *SNIP* Same goes with sushi, that stuff isn't even a proper meal from what i was taught about food groups, but i supported it. I hate currie, but i will still suffer a plate of butter chicken cause that *SNIP* is good.

Why do i see so many young people from other races act like they need to be different from white people? What do white people DO that is so white? Modernized? that is white? well there were times that wasn't so, so i would say we have just as much to celebrate but are too scared to because it might offend other races

LOL. Didn't you know that whites, especially white males are the epitome of evil and all that is wrong with the world? Political correctness shows that interest in white history means that you are a racist mean spirited bigot. I mean why else would michelle obama be ashamed of this country right up until her husband was elected president? Certainly she knows better than any dirty nasty white man does. Just for future reference, you should know that the only permissible discrimination is against straight white males. [/sarcasm]

Now people going to ask what about brown, light brown, tan etc?

No, I don't think it's racist. Hell maybe what's racist about it is that only 1 month out of the 12 is devoted to it?

Rather it's to respect that culture in my opinion.

It's true, there is so much to celebrate about the "whites"...and about any culture..maybe you guys don't get the true amount of appreciation that you would get.

You say scared...what is there to be scared about? Celebrate all you wish, I don't think there would be anyone stopping you..rather they would all want to join in!!

I respect the culture, I celebrate it..because I think it's necessary and I want to...but sometimes I think it's stupid that people are being told to respect it..

They need to learn to.

Okay I've gone off topic now lol

Yeah... and where is the

WET ? (White Entertainment Network) ... obviously BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION. BET

Or the Caucasion network? (there are many east-indian, etc chnls in my area)

Or any white pride parades? Oh right... KKK took that too far.

Here is the thing, I am not racist. I never was. I think it's ridiculous.

I think it's ridiculous how all of or a great number of ethnicities have 'networks' and whatnot... but probably because i am WHITE.

The answer to your strugglesome question is this... White-man settled this land, and europe... the "minorities" need identifcation and uniquity by having these chennels etc because the REST of everything IS WHITE ...

It's basically "white day" every day.

My vote is for ZERO "pride" parades. Pride is for the inexperienced, unknowledged and naive.

I applaud your positive view, but i fear a news anchor might get some hate male if even introduced the topic, forget the riots that would flare up around the reported on ground.

White history = European history, American history which is something you studied in school and live in every day as history is a living entity. Do you really want to be limited to a month and then forgotten the rest of the year? Do you really want "white" history to be commercialized and turned into a fad where people celebrate the history just within that month and not every day? Black History month celebrates Black American history - it has nothing to do with race but rather black culture in America - which is a EURO-CENTRIC country. There is no such thing as white history because you can't just base history on race and dismiss all the different European cultures.

If you are American, and by your negative tone, you are, why don't you become a scholar on American history? Why not find about your ancestors? Are you Scottish, British, French, etc? Learn about that and stop making this about race.

Haha, It's every month of the year. Despite what you're told Black History has no month. History isn't considered only a month out of the year but rather daily. Don't let reverse racism bring up questions like this, that's what it's intended for. Kids these days don't see the difference in somebody's color until it is pointed out to them. Don't fall prey to the trap that racism is a big problem these days, it just adds to it. Racism is a problem that is being created at this point in time. Don't think of it has Black History, think of it as history. Don't ask for a white history month, hispanic history month, native american history month, etc. because it only divides. Even though it may come from a good place, it's division either way. Separate but equal sound familiar? Keep it Together and Equal.

Isn't white history taught in schools, for like all year?

It's celebrated on st.patricks day, and I guess the other significant white imigrant groups special days in the US.

Oh! Thanksgiving.

I have always felt that we need to stop defining people by their color or race ie.white people ,black people,Brown people,Hispanic people, indian people, chinese people........Notice the thread tying all these definitions together: it's people. Regardless of what the bigots think we are all people ,human with all that implies. We all have faults and we all have virtues. The fact that some folks can't see that is one of mankinds faults. No wonder the aliens don't associate openly with us.

Honky don't count in the USA. That's the biased agenda of the powers that be. It's not racist to be against racism, which is what Black History Month is. It should be replaced with Heritage Month. Were all peoples of the various backgrounds can acknowledge them without being sepratist which is what singleing out one race(black) does. What about Yellow History Month, Red History Month, Brown History Month, it's all devisive. Do away with it completly or have Heritage Month, which is for everyone.

When is Asian History Month? When is Hispanic History Month? When is Native American History Month? When is...well you get the picture.

It might be time to do away with this practice, eh? Keeping it separate and in the forefront, while benevolent in intention and full of pride and all that, in reality just keeps it all separate. And, if I'm not mistaken, keeping focus on differences and enforcing separation is not the idea.

No way. Black history month seems to celebrate black history BEFORE America. I don't mean to sound mean but if were only black America history wouldn't there be more black only water fountains, cotton, and everyone saying boss. I think they want to forget their history in America and celebrate the history that came with them from Africa.

I am Canadian by the way, sure i have some German, British, and even Lebanese background. I have never lived in those places.... I AM Canadian....*crack..fzzzz*

You have my vote.

The only ones who are really left out are those 'poor' Reptillians, relegated to Skunkworks and no-one allowed to love them without either getting bit or having alien eggs growing in their lungs.

No races = no racism.

I think the problem is that to many people spend to much time worrying about the color of a person's skin or what country they originate from. Do we really need a month to celebrate a race, culture, or anything else? Do we really need holidays to celebrate a religion? One thing I have always wondered about America is that we say that work cannot interfere with a religious belief, but how many companies are going to let someone off because its a religious holiday at least without asking in advance?

That was a bit off topic, but the point is that who needs White History month? Who really needs Black History month? To be honest I think we need to move on from the past and move ahead with the world. This is one of those things that holds the human race back from ascension of our intellectual minds. We are to worried about making up for slavery, the holocaust, manifest destiny, etc etc etc.

Wouldn't it make more sense to I don't know live for tomorrow rather then live for what happened yesterday?

A better question in my mind would be why do we refer to people as African American, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Mexican etc. Why not just call them people? So yea me and my friend here were just wondering what that guys name was over there? Instead of So yea me and my friend were wondering what that black guys name was over there? See my point?

Now obviously there are times when things are different such as if you are conducting a criminal investigation, but seriously why do we constantly refer to people by there race? Why do we even have politically correct terms why is it even necessary?

I agree, there should be no parades, no networks, no months, for anyone.

It is decisive and I am tired of people trying to make me ashamed for things that happened in the past that I had nothing to do with.

I am not ashamed, you know why, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING to be ashamed about.

My ancestors owned plantations in the South, had slaves, the whole nine yards. In fact I am looking at an antique photograph of them right now. (the slaves all have new clothes, shoes and big smiles on their faces)

It's the past, it's over. Get over it, times have changed.

Quit adding salt to the wounds.

If we are ever to truly get past the bigotry, it has to stop from both sides.

Another thing that no one ever seems to discuss is African Kings sold their people out.

It takes two to tango.

It's all about classification, designation, and separation. Sad this is gov pandering to the socialist professors and sepratists. It's condensending actually. Just like the dumb incorrect term African American, it did not come from everyday black people, I can guess with high probability it was started by a socialist sepratist professor.

So what? If people want to celebrate black history then who is anyone else to say anything about it? Let people do whatever the hell they want to do. You want a "white history month"? Pick one and start celebrating it.
