Obama Energy Secretary Promises Massive Coal Plant Closures 100211top4

Obama Energy Secretary Steven Chu has launched the next phase of the White House’s publicly stated agenda to bankrupt the coal industry via EPA regulations after announcing the prospect of “massive” coal plant closures even as Texas and other states suffer rolling blackouts as a result of maxed-out power plants that cannot cope with demand.

The Obama administration’s strict enforcement of draconian EPA regulations has led to new clean-burning coal-fired plants being mothballed and other existing ones being shut down, which has in turn led to Texas and other states becoming energy-dependent, leading to shortages and blackouts exacerbated by freezing temperatures.

So he's bankrupting the coal plants and his tax cut proposals will
cut heating aid to the poor and elderly when this country, possibly
the world, is experiencing record freezing temperatures.

I guess he did promise CHANGE we could believe in. I don't think
he was talking to us though. He must have been talking to his
oil/corporate/banker buddies. I'm sure they are absolutely thrilled.

This guy knows he'll never get re-elected. That makes him twice
as dangerous. He's going to do whatever he/his handlers damn
well please and the little people be damned.

Doesn't he realize that the hot air that comes from his mouth won't keep up warm in the winter? I am kind of glad that I at least have options, electric heat, furnace, and woodburning stove...

It may just be me but power plants that emit no pollution sounds like a good thing. Texas should have known that sooner or later the EPA was going to start some crap about them having no laws controlling carbon dioxide.

In other words, coal plants were breaking the law, and are being closed because of it.

"Draconian regulations" my brown ass. If the industry has the billions to spend to lie to the consumer about how sparkly and clean coal is, then they have the money to spend to put in the scrubbers and follow OSHA regs.

Stupid Obama, when is he going to learn we don't want to make any advances in the field of energy? Why can't he understand we want to rely on fossil fuels and be at the hands of foreign oil moguls forever? Damn you obama!

Coal powered the 1800's and is done as a means of energy as it is dirty and harmful to the environment. This is the future. End oil, coal and anything else dirty.
