After many a thread full of outrage over policies emanating from Obama, Congress, Senate and the Supreme Court at a lesser extent, I feel like it has to be said.

Ultimate blame falls on Americans.

We elected them, and seem unable to look at the root of the problem. Sure, you threw your dinner at the TV once or twice during a speech or two. Sure you hear the news and run here to post some thread like "Congress voted to spend $XYZ Billion to save ABC business." So, what?

You know everything, not, to do except blame someone else for our troubles.

Blame yourself, America. Blame YOURSELF.

We have a tarnished global image? We can fix it.
We have a horrible monetary system? We can change it.
We have a grotesque corrupt beurocracy? We can eliminate it.

More than likely, we will continue down this road until our ultimate demise. In the end, we will have only ourselves to blame. I think that your average American is just fine with that. As long as they can hang onto this life for every second possible, nothing will change. Everyone has the same fear. They only want to kick the can down the road longer than the person to their left and right. They do not want to be the first, and will always strive to be the last. Besides, Superman could come to save the day at the last second, and you'll like like a real putz if you get off the ride too soon!

I'll second that.

As I've said in many a post, here on ATS we get report after report, image after image, that our world is wrecked.

Yet we look at each thread as if that particular thread is the final proof we need to show that ours is a corrupt, self serving government that needs to be modified, one way or another.

I get it, you get it, we all get it.
We're fubar'd.

Yet we do nothing.

S&F.

Maybe if your congress would politely ask that rather dashing chapy Hugo Chavez from down south to run your country for a while, things might get better. I think youd have to ask really nice though considering the amount of times America has tried to murder him.

woops!, when i mention the murder of an elected foreign head of state, i actualy mean bring democracy and peace, silly me!

1;
anyone else see that Fox News Special the other night?
the one where U.S. citizens were smashing on President Obama.
talk about the beginnings of a Revolution.
Mass Media Anti-Government.
actually a good thing, but extremelly shocking.

2;
Ezekiel 7;19
They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

America; throw away your Want. Find God within You. Find Happiness within You.
materialism is a sin. what do you need 12 tvs for? 7 bathrooms? 3 cars?
be satisfied with what you have and want only what you need.
America; stand up for God. stand up for yourself. stand up for your friends. stand up.

America is too diffuse to have a common interest.
It has been held together by prosperity, but this is coming to an end.

lol. You can hold me responsible when it's my generation running the country in about 20 year or so. Until then, I'm just along for the ride.

2;
that is the problem with people today. they take religion literally. religion is supposed to be a guide, a history book. you must make of it what you want.

if you see undead zombie kings, okay...

i see an advanced civilization that Man could not comprehend and so tried their best to describe what they were feeling.

I used to love kicking a can down the road,...or a rock, or a stick. Anything you can possibly kick down the road basically.

Just goes to show. We are much happier when we have a goal, something to do.

Yes. You're correct on that one. There's no countering the "bought off" factor there.

Can someone post a link that explains how Supreme Court justices have the power to legislate from the bench?

Impeach Supreme Court Justices???

Why Aren’t We Impeaching Some Supreme Court Justices?, Asks Stop the ACLU. Well, it sounds like a great idea, but we all know nothing will happen:

This is absolutely judicial tyranny, and a definite overstepping of the Court’s boundaries. Some are suggesting impeachment.

They are not selected, nor removed by the populace. The populace elects the representatives to do their bidding. If the populace doesn't care for what the representatives are doing, but opts not to change it, the Supreme Court can be considered a manifestation of that sedentary attitude.

Under normal circumstances, a Supreme Court justice is awarded a lifetime commission.

A Supreme Court Justice may be impeached by the House of Representatives and removed from office if convicted in a Senate trial, but only for the same types of offenses that would trigger impeachment proceedings for any other government official under Articles I and II of the Constitution.

Article III, Section 1 states that judges of Article III courts shall hold their offices "during good behavior." "The phrase "good behavior" has been interpreted by the courts to equate to the same level of seriousness 'high crimes and misdemeanors" encompasses.

In addition, any federal judge may prosecuted in the criminal courts for criminal activity. If found guilty of a crime in a federal district court, the justice would face the same type of sentencing any other criminal defendant would. The district court could not remove him/her from the Bench. However, any justice found guilty in the criminal courts of any felony would certainly be impeached and, if found guilty, removed from office.

In the United States, impeachment is most often used to remove corrupt lower-court federal judges from office, but it's not unusual to find disgruntled special interest groups circulating petitions on the internet calling for the impeachment of one or all members of the High Court.

The Impeachment Process

Impeachment is a two-step process; the impeachment phase is similar to a Grand Jury hearing, where charges (called "articles of impeachment") are presented and the House of Representatives determines whether the evidence is sufficient to warrant a trial. If the House vote passes by a simple majority, the defendant is "impeached," and proceeds to trial in the Senate.

The House of Representatives indicts the accused on articles of impeachment, and, if impeached, the Senate conducts a trial to determine the party's guilt or innocence.

The Senate trial, while analogous to a criminal trial, only convenes for the purpose of determining whether a Justice, the President (or another officeholder) should be removed from office on the basis of the evidence presented at impeachment.

At the trial a committee from the House of Representatives, called "Managers," act as the prosecutors. Per constitutional mandate (Article I, Section 3), the Chief Justice of the United States (Supreme Court) must preside over the Senate trial of the President. If any other official is on trial, an "Impeachment Trial Committee" of Senators act as the presiding judges to hear testimony and evidence against the accused, which is then presented as a report to the remained of the Senate. The full Senate no longer participates in the hearing phase of the removal trial. This procedure came into practice in 1986 when the Senate amended its rules and procedures for impeachment and has been contested by several federal court judges, but the Supreme Court has declined to interfere in the process, calling the issue a political, not legal, matter.

At the conclusion of the trial, the full Senate votes and must return a two-thirds Super Majority for conviction. Convicted officials are removed from office immediately and barred from holding future office. The Senate trial, while analogous to a criminal trial, only convenes for the purpose of determining whether a Justice, the President (or another officeholder) should be removed from office on the basis of the evidence presented at impeachment.

Impeachment and Near Impeachment

Only one Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Chase (one of the signatories to the Declaration of Independence), has ever been impeached. The House of Representatives accused Chase of letting his Federalist political leanings affect his rulings, and served him with eight articles of impeachment in late 1804. The Senate acquitted him of all charges in 1805, establishing the right of the judiciary to independent opinion. Chase continued on the Court until his death in June 1811.

In 1957, at the height of McCarthyism, the Georgia General Assembly passed a joint resolution calling for "The Impeachment of Certain U.S. Supreme Court Justices" believed to be enabling Communism with their decisions. The resolution targeted Chief Justice Earl Warren and Associate Justices Hugo Black, William O. Douglas, Tom Campbell Clark, Felix Frankfurter, and Stanley Forman Reed (as well as several unnamed deceased Justices) for "...[usurping] the congressional power to make law in violation of Article I, Sections I and 8, and violated Sections 3 and 5 of the 14th Amendment and nullified the 10th Amendment of the Constitution."

I blame all those Americans who believe a bigger government is what we should all have. I especially blame everyone who voted for politicians who want to spend more of our taxpayer money. Too many in this country want the government to provide for all from birth to death. Government spending and unneeded laws need to be slashed. I'm referring to laws that increase expenses to individuals and/or businesses. Too many government departments are enacting additional requirements on businesses that only add lots of time and expense on others. I believe I read the other day about new regulations being imposed on farmers (maybe it was by the EPA) which is only going to increase the costs to do business for farmers and they will either have less money to invest in their farms or need to charge more for the food we buy. It goes on and on and our government becomes bigger and bigger full of red tape and extra expenses for everyone.

I once read that with capitalism, you grow the entire pie much bigger (the economy) so that everyone can have more. With socialism (which Americans seem to have voted for a few years ago) the government provides for everyone but everyone gets a lot less. Services get rationed and society becomes less efficient. Unfortunately if things aren't reversed soon, we're about to experience everyone getting a lot less service from the government and we'll get to keep a lot less of our money out of our paychecks. Actually I believe this is almost a guaranteed certainty at this point within a few years. Taxes will go up to pay for health care (unless it's changed). Taxes will need to go up to pay for runaway government spending and the extra interest on the national debt. Government spending needs to be slashed along with wasteful regulations that add a lot of extra expenses to businesses and individuals without much added value. Some people call that diminishing returns. You spend a lot of money on something someone considered important but you don't get much benefit out of it. It's wasteful. Hopefully the politicians we elect will have the courage to enact the right kind of changes to stop our currency and our life savings (hopefully you have some) from becoming worthless. A massive run on the dollar will ruin this country and make prices skyrocket overnight. Your life savings will take a hit worse than 2008 if this happens.

I actually have some hope we can make the changes to make the dollar worth something and make the economy better. We just need the right people in office.

Is it wrong to say that the United States of America will soon need a major reboot? It seems like the system is failing. When it finally fails, then what do we do? I have no hope for this country. For every corrupt politician, there's a line of a 100 more waiting to take their place. Politicians have none of the answers.
