I hope this isn't too off-topic, but that was seriously one of the most unrealistic, corny movie scenes I've seen in my entire life. They just stumble apon an Antonov 225 and he somehow knows how to fly it.

LOL - of course it was! We're talking about Roland Emmerich, the King of unrealistic disaster scenes. He's worse than Michael Bay.

There is currently only one An-225 in service at the moment. The registration is UR-82060.

It would be very hard for this aircraft not to be reported by the world-wide aviation enthusiast community. It is worth keeping an eye out for the serial UR-82060 on web searches to see if it appears active?

I had the privilege of seeing the AN-225 on two separate occassions at Tulsa International , 4or5 years ago . That is one massive beast . The nose of the plane opened up and a hydraulic ramp unfolded out of the plane . All of the wheels had independant steering .

They were loading oilfield equipment into it , to take to the middle east . The crew members were all Russian , so we had an interpretor tell us that they could park several 18-wheelers inside of it . I don't recall exactly how many . We had radios and were listening to them as they talked with the tower on approach and take-off .

What I remember the most , was how it seemed to take a lot longer to land the plane than it did to take off . That sucker was not even halfway down the runway when it lifted off .

The most massive piece of equipment I have ever saw . It was all really neat and amazing .

Actually, the highest probability is that its what people have been suggesting it is - the An-225.

The An-225 is actually quite active, being the heaviest commercial (let alone military) heavy lifter in existence it gets a lot of jobs.

I haven't ever personally seen a wing-tip vortex visable from the ground, they are sigificantly less powerful than the contrails from the engines.

I know of no other flying six engined planes than the Antonov-225

You know it's kind of funny, the first thing that I thought it was was one of the new "flying wings" from Boeing/Nasa (X48B?). But when I researched it, I found out that they only have 3 engines.

I think the fact that hte X-48B only has a 20ft wingspan would count more against it than anything...

back story is that after the Valkyrie program was cancelled somebody scraped together one or two of them and NASA/NSA has used them (secretly) since the 70s as a satellite tender.
supposedly one year the line item 'brilliant buzzard' was accidently listed in one of the black op budgets

Well as far as I know, the X48B is basically a prototype for something else. Something bigger? Again, this aircraft only has 3 engines so I doubt that's what flew over.

The Antonov is very appealing though.

not really gonna get into much, but when everyone's in the cargo hold on the 225 you hear the Russian and his boys talking about the cars.. indicating that this Russian plane with all the cars are owned or contracted by this massively wealthy Russian guy. also if your that rich i don't think you'd want to ride around a cargo hold, you'd have another plane, unless it got destroyed ... >.>

I doubt I will ever find out what it was that flew over. Every now and then I notice some odd happenings around our airport here in Jackson. This airport was at one time a privately funded airstrip and over the years has gained popularity among the commercial fliers. There are still these "private" individuals that have some really cool craft housed here. Our monument outside the EAA building at my airport is an old military jet.

Obviously, this jet that I seen had nothing to do with Reynolds field beside that fact that it flew through our airspace.

Again, the Antonov 225 is believable due to the fact that is is still used very widely. The Valkyrie resembles very closely to what I seen but not as believable because there are so few of these flown today.

I would like to thank everyone for their support and I hope to post more aircraft on here in the future. Maybe this time with more video or picture proof.

Wow...he's ASKING what we think it could be. Sheesh could you actually read the OP before jumping down his throat? I usually don't bother responding to these rude posts, but it has really gotten to me today after seeing dozens of them.

To the OP, I was going to reply and ask if there were any markings visible on the plane? Or colours or anything at all?

No, there were no markings that I could see. Just a light gray color that you would normally see with a commercial airliner. Did you check out the picture that I made?

Understatement of the century - there are no Valkyries flying, the only surviving aircraft is on display in a museum.

I highly doubt that it was the "Understatement of the Century", but ok.

His characters do things like, outrun freezing air, outrun wild animals and outrun earthquakes.

Of all the unbelieveable things in that movie this one is actually believeable. The guy was a Russian billionaire, that he would own a Russian made jet isn't too hard. And that his own pilot knows how to fly it? Pretty believeable to me.

Now the plastic surgeon flying a twin all the way to Yellowstone and back with only a few hours of lessons? That's bunk.
