Perhaps you should go back and read the history of the progressive movement.
You might be surprised.

Progressive sounds very....well progressive, but the actual progressive movement had nothing to do with progressing as a culture.

Left-wing protestors tend to riot because 7.5 million children die needlessly every year primarily from dysentery and malaria. Clean water and mosquito nets are too much to ask for - says the ruling elite.
Left-wing protestors tend to riot because we live in an insane consumer society that is killing us. Only one earth to go around - not five.
Left-wing protestors tend to riot because the owners speculated, broke their toy, and now want me and other people to pay for the party.
Left-wing protestors tend to riot because the right-wing are happy as long as the 99% stick to just talking. That causes them no problems and can easely be ignored.
