Is Yellowstone getting Ready?

I know there is another thread but no one is responding, but there has been two large quakes within an hour or so of each other at the park. Please look at the webicorder and share your thoughts. I think this is insane.

Large quakes? what were they on the Richter scale? I cant read on the chart.

That's exactly why I posted this here to get help. I'm an amateur at this but I think that they are fives.I know they are definitely out of the norm from what the usual small quakes look like.

It certainly looks like significant quakes but without data I am lost. The earthquake thread did post some WA quakes today as well as one off the Oregon Coast. Need date, time, scale, etc. Thank you.

oh for gods sake those arent quakes.. and even if they are their over all mags cant be larger then 1.5

the reason why nobody responded to your reply on the main YS thread is because im busy doing other things .

and the rest of us are either a sleeping or b they have a life unlike me ...

I just checked the usgs site and there is nothing new in the last hour or day. I checked the real time map.

This site should help you out. I check this out every day to see what is going on in the world.

It was a 2.4. not a big deal.

Good that you are keeping an eye out though!

monitoring yellowstone for activity is like monitoring the sun for brightness.

What is registering on all these seismographs throughout the US? Are they just "echoes" from a quake somewhere on the planet?

Is what we're seeing on the YS seismo just this event & not something localized @ YS? I can't read the graphs so I don't know if they occurred around the same time or not, but they're both from today.

I recently began monitoring these graphs and have noticed that often whenever something happens in one place, most every graph picks it up. though lately argentina has been mostly black.

First the shape of the trace tells one immediately that those did not occur in the park, or they are not actually quakes so that is a relief. Next you need to try and find out where they did occur or what they are.

Take a look at the bottom of the page in the left hand corner. It says 125 mVolts. Basically that means that this recorder is quite sensitive.

Taking a look at the plot for these I would say they are not quakes.

This is the sound of those two 'blips' at 40 x speed. They are not earthquakes.

When Yellowstone starts popping out a succession of quakes ranging from 6.0 and up then you have to be worried. So no, for now she is silent.
