Oh great another vaccine I can refuse to take which will lead to me and others getting blamed for any future flu pandemics.

They think they are being clever but they might be just challenging it to turn into something we can't fight without artificial help. It is usually only the outside coatings of the flu that mutates.. the inside has been given no reason to untill now. Under estimating evolution is dangerous.

I hear that exposing yourself to illness raises your immune system. Perhaps this vaccination will prevent the flu, but what about other similar bugs that would override the vaccination? Could this make us actually weaker?

You raise a valid point.My personal feeling is yes it could make us weaker.It could be possible that all vaccines do this.

I assume you're talking about the case where the virus mutates and is able to survive the vaccine? It happens, but it doesn't make your immune system weaker. Vaccines strengthen your immune system, it's inherent in their design.
