In what will likely be seen as something of a Freudian slip by the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton recently in a Mexican news interview that the United States cannot legalize drugs as a means of fighting the black market because "there is just too much money in it."

Well, we cannot outright ban cigarettes because "there is just too much money in it"
. She is insane! (What will our children 100 years from now say looking back at all this garbage?)

This woman just showed how ignorant she really is.

You take the power away from the Drug lords by legalizing it. They would be out of work overnight.
Why buy from a drug lord when you can go down to seven eleven and get a pack of Marlboro Greens?

Nobody is that dumb.
More proof of the NWO.
Its the people who are addicted
to money and power who are
the problem.

Ms. Clinton is not an idiot, nor did she make a "slip." This is the official line on drugs in America. True, she is confusing the issue (deliberately) when she states, "there is too much money in it." The money that really drives the drug war involves police departments, the private prison industry, and the DEA. But there is nothing new in her position here. The government has been making this argument since Reagan, or possibly even before.

The dealers dealer is the Government . They supply hard drugs as it fits in nicely with their depopulation agenda .
Marijuana is not their territory ,

No, not an honest answer. What she gave was the official line, which she is quite aware is a lie. I had hoped (from the title of the thread) that she had inadvertently admitted the governments financial motivation for the drug war, but alas, with the exception of a one-liner, taken out of context, it is clear that she did not. Read the article and it is obvious.

What she gave, was the same old BS line. More reason not to trust her honesty.

Just my opinion.

She knows first hand how much money is to be made with drugs being illegal. Her (ex?/contract?) hubby used coc aine money to help finance her law firm back when we was governor. This youtube clip gives us citizens some insight to the Clinton legacy:
(its a long clip but well worth your time)

And this is an example of the people that are leading our country!
It is understandable why this country is in the shape that it is in! And I had nothing to do with these people being put in power, and it would have only been a different side of the same coin if the other party would have been in power. When are we going to ever get anyone to vote for that would be right for the country? I think NEVER, since they pick who we get to vote for....

How soon we forget Iran-Contra. How soon we forget CIA jets crash with tons of coc aine...

The CIA is the biggest drug runner of them all.

Of course there's too much money in it! It funds their campaigns!

Google Mena, Clinton, CIA and welcome to a whole new world...
(Maybe not for mainstream ATSers but for those lurkers....)

Im thinking she intends for some of us to pull more out of those words then the official line. of course the problem is that we cant put DEA officers and prison guards out of work, thats where all the money is.

This reminds me of last fall, in the statewide election of California, they had the ballot proposition to legalize marijuana for recreational use. And some Russian Minister named Victor Ivanov made a trip to California to speak against legalization with all the usual reefer madness rhetoric. I have to think this guy didn't want it legalized because of how much money he, or the people he works for, would lose.

www.foreignpolicy.com...

Meanwhile, alcohol is literally killing the Russian people. And he's worried about Californians smoking pot.
Doesn't make any sense unless you look at the subtext.

Eric Schlosser wrote a good book on the topic:
Reefer Madness: Sex, Drugs, and Cheap Labor in the American Black Market

I dont need anyone to tell me it should be legalized.
Im 65 now and been at it 47 yrs.
Theres no bullsh^&t like the old entry level drug story....nobody i know has the urge to move on up to harder stuff....or goes mental when they are out.
The whole goverment line is just plain old manipulation.
Ill tell you exactly why too.....
Using Weed puts one in the frame of mind where one tends to see through programming a bit more easily.
The tv shows and commercials that are there to program people into certain attitudes and behaviors really stand out from the rest...what few there are......
The goverment dont want you to realise that the best things in life are free.
They want you to consume! consume consume!
They want you to never be happy with what you have....
They want you fearful and anxious about terror, your job, your mortgage.
When you get happy without paying taxes ,they are pissed..That money must be spent the waay they want you to spend it.
On taxable things like booze and gambling, and consumer crap up the ying.
They want you fat lazy and out of shape, youll die off faster....less pensions to pay.
The goverment is in business for itself and its cronies.
The goverment thinks of its people as a cash cow to be milked to death if need be to support the gov boys in the style they are accustomed to...
Funny how one sees through the smoke more clearly.....

Federal Government / States make more money putting people in jail, seizing their homes..cars...bank accounts....

Than if it was legalized and taxed. Government loves making marijuana illegal because they make hundreds of Billions with it banned.

Notice how the elite of America don't serve jail time-get prosecuted for marijuana? The law only applies to the little people. You're easy to steal from.

Realize that I am responding to this post long after it was created; however, this is the first that I have heard about this story. The fact that the MSM (which includes MSNBC) never mentioned this is very telling. Ed Shultz likes to have his Pyscho Talk section. Well this quote from Billary ought to be front and center. It shows how ignorant and/or fatuous US leaders are. By Clinton's logic, alcohol prohibition should never have ended, as there is just too money money to be made in selling alcohol. By her comment she shows that she is either mendacious or totally ignorant of US history and economics -- and in any case is not fit for governmental office higher than rest area custodian.

Of course its because theres too much money in it. Not only in the drugs themselves, but theres simply too much money in locking people up. How do you think we have the world's largest prison system? For profit private prisons that lock you up for a small drug charge and teach you how to just keep coming back. It seems to be the American way to ruin someone's life for profit. But the kicker is they call them "correctional" facilities.

"We'll have a nation of stoned people running around!"

Yes because every man, woman and child in the country smokes a cigarette dont they?

Prohibition doesnt work. Al Capone is the reason why it doesnt work. Mexican drug cartels are the reason it doesnt work. Street gangs are the reason it doesnt work. You dont need to treat people like children. A grown adult should have the right to choose what they want to put in their own body. Period.

They can't legalize it, they'll have no reason why to deny you your liberty if the legalize it. You have some MJ on you, there goes your license. You're black and have some Crack on you, you're going to jail longer than any white person with the same amount of coc aine on them.

Not legalizing doesn't mean they're not going to stop allowing their "pets" to continue to import the drugs and distribute those drugs. Our gov't makes money both ways with it illegal. $ from the "pets" and $ from the serfs in the form of taxes taken.

The drug cartels make money, the police unions make money, the prison guards union make money, the American Bar Association members make money, the state employee unions make money, and the contractors who make the equipment used by the DEA and other agencies make money. All of these make campaign contributions and therefore own Congresscritters. There's your problem.

As far as cigarettes are concerned, until the 1990's the largest wholesaler of tobacco products, was the Federal Government, yet, they bear no responsibility for getting people to smoke.
