just saw this on the usgs homepage.....potential for water shortages in the great lakes

It seems the water systems in the world are quite screwy. droughts in south america, floods in austrailia....and now, water shortages in the great lakes

I was wondering how they can be down 1,000 feet? Seems like I remember when living there Lake Michigan is about 300' - 400' deep at its deepest spots.

I assume they mean acre feet or feet acre however they measure it?
