A mission to smash into a space rock to deflect it and study its structure has been given priority over five other potential asteroid projects by the European Space Agency.

Thanks for posting the link!
We tend to think of the world as being so very US-centric... it's nice to see a coordinated effort within other space agencies to address the possibility of asteroid impact.

I should hope that other nations would consider aiding in the event of an asteroid impact. After all, the US would not be the only country effected.

It would be a great project and thing if it succeeds. Hopefuly it does. It would be great if we know how to destroy an astroid.
