Excellent explanation of the butterfly effect *Video now working*

Some of you may be familiar with the butterfly effect of the universe, the idea that a butterfly's wings in New York could cause a Tornado in Oklahoma. It sends out a ripple effect, which shapes/changes the course of events, gaining a bigger influence over time.

I was watching Fringe (I'm a few weeks behind), and there was an excellent explanation of this with an example. Check it out:


Background info: The Observer is basically a peacekeeper of the 'natural' course of events. He saved Walter's (the old guy) son so now things are kind of screwy.

The informative part goes up to about 2:10, though I have included the entire scene so as to not be confusing...
