"Free Trade" is a con job to enslave the masses. Cheaper (slave) labor will always be found. The end result is: massive trade deficits, which also causes a collapsing dollar; massive budget deficits (no middle class to pay taxes); a blue collar wage which has continuously declined in real terms since 1973; and communism in America - all available jobs paying around $8 per hour.
Productivity in America doubled between 2000 and 2010, but wages declined. Golly, wonder why.
But, socialism for covering bankers gambling debts is 'good'. If instead of the $10-15 Trillion dollar bailout for bankers, the same money could have provided around $50,000 for every man, woman and child in America. But, we are fed the crap, socialism for Wall St, hard knocks for main street.

What the ruling elites want, is you to think that you have only two choices. This is the first place where you miss the reality of the situation.

Your second false belief is in the free market, because there is no such thing as a free market, and never was.

What created the middle class was a strong regulatory system that prevented corporate abuse, and kept the banking system in check. The other big part of this was a tax rate that made the super rich pay for the vast amount of services they get from the fed gov in the form of regulation of interstate commerce, international treaties, and the big military which protects their overseas investments.

Do you recognize how badly the Fed Res has gotten out of hand since deregulation?

Do you think it is acceptable when banks take a 40% bite out of our economy by manipulating the currency?

This is the same formula most third world nations exist under.

Just one point of contention right off the bat. Isn't the tripling of the national debt congress's fault?

Never seems to be put that way when we talk about Bush or Obama

You illustrate the memory hole that RR seems to inspire...

I see "conservatives" on this thread who very regularly bemoan the same policies RR mastered and normalized

Too add to your point.

Reagan had to sign those budgets, and could have vetoed those budgets if he chose, but Reagan got the budgets he wanted. Reagan never had a veto overturned.

Reagan also signed into law the biggest tax increase in the history of the U.S., but the free market suckers pretend that didn't happen as well.

I think this comment by you should be repeated.

And then they got the ditto head suckers to believe that Obama bailed out the bankers, when GW, who they elected, and the their republican reps in congress are the ones who bailed out the banks. Gave away the money without any restrictions.

Then, when democrats wrote new regulations for banks to prevent the kind of fraud that destroyed our economy, repubs in congress fought them every step of the way.

With all due respect you are again WRONG!

I don’t blame republicans for all what ails America and all I have to do to prove that is the threads I started that denounces Obama and Clinton [Democrats] and you will see that what you posted is incorrect.

The middle class:

source

My definition is more historical in nature.

Yours seems to be more marxist in nature.

Marxism, which defines social classes according to their relationship with the means of production, the "middle class" is said to be the class below the ruling class and above the proletariat in the Marxist social schema. Marxist writers have used the term in two distinct but related ways.[8] In the first sense it is used for the bourgeoisie, the urban merchant and professional class that stood between the aristocracy and the proletariat in the Marxist model. However, in modern developed countries, the bourgeoisie is taken to be the class that owns and controls the means of production, and is thus considered the ruling class in capitalist societies. As such, some Marxist writers specify the petite bourgeoisie – owners of small property who may not employ wage labor – as the "middle class" between the ruling and working classes.[8] Marx himself regarded this version of the "middle class" as becoming merged with the working classes.

We will never be able to agree as long as that is true.

Good point. I have always known that in America what we think is middle class is actually not strictly middle class. Middle class is doctors, lawyers, IT heads, actors, professional athletes etc. What we think are middle class: teachers, auto workers, steel workers, clerks, secretaries, laborers etc. are actually technically LOWER middle class.

If people understood that then the most of populace [who are mostly lower middle class] who have been deceived that they are “middle class” would be more angry.

I guess I'm just one of those stupid conservatives that admires President Reagan.........I just find it funy the liberal left is going out of it's way to try and demonize the man, while their messiah wants to be just like him...........more stupidity from the left that never ceases to amaze me.

All the deflection from the topic still doesn't clear up Reagan's bad presidency. What Obama has to do with him, I don't know. As if Obama agrees with Reagan's policy. Conservatives are still celebrating Reagan's birthday and he's dead. It's a shame that Reagan is the idealized Conservative because there are probably better candidates. This is Juche, and fascism.

Excellent point.

I've been laughing about that throughout this whole thread.

Let's see what kind of explanations we can get ...

Silence, you don’t read anything. Obama is not a hero to me, in-fact he and Reagan were both good actors and great liars.

It’s you supporters who don’t have an intelligent argument that supports his dangerous policies

All you basing I ton is emotionalism and patriotism or conservative dogma.

Reagan and your new hero Bush both destroyed the economy

Why is it that so called "great Presidents" were generally absolutely nothing of the kind.

Ronald Reagan is upheld by Republicans AND the Tea Party movement as being the President they most admire. For the Tea Party, who wants "responsible government" this seems assinine as Reagan tripled the national debt on his watch, certainly not "responsible government". Raegan also had his fair share of controversy, such as when he fired the EVERY air traffic controller (with the provision that they NEVER work for ATC again), and the whole Iran Contra scandal speaks for itself. Hardly responsible government.

The other President that Americans uphold as the "best of the best" and whom many Americans say is their "favorite of all time" and who's statue sits immortalized in stone in Washington, is Abraham Lincoln.

Popular Myths about Lincoln

1) He instituted the "greenback" but in reality gave more money to the rich bankers than almost any other President in history, looking at real value of the dollars handed out. He paid off the bankers for each "greenback" produced, and it ended up being one of the greatest transfers of wealth to the rich in World history.
2) He is remembered for freeing the slaves. However, it was the CONFEDERATE Constitution that first addressed the issue of slavery, banning the import of slaves from foreign countries. It was the NORTH that allowed a slave to be counted as "2/3 of a person". In the end, Lincoln really only freed the slaves in the North because they were running short of white troops. Almost immediately, Lincoln allowed freed black slaves to serve in the military.
3) He declared war without an act of Congress.
4) He suspended habeus corpus for the duration of this war.
5) 30 years before, Andrew Jackson had gotten the USA almost completely out of debt. The Civil War added more debt than any other action up to that time, and the USA has been paying off the bankers ever since. Where did much of the money come from? ENGLAND, from whom they had declared independance less than 100 years before. England didn't care about US independance so long as they could get them straight back into debt to the Bank of England.

These are just a few examples of many.

Kindly explain how the Dems haven't done more than their fair share of destoying this country............all I see is this liberal bashing of a geat president, while ignoring how terrible the Dems in office have been. Both sides have made mistakes, nut hey both give to the rich, it's how they stay in office, so being selective, a typical liberal tactict, it might appear one way, we both know the truth.

What a strange assortment of replies this thread has generated. The demi-god status Reagan has been given by Republicans makes him quite a curious character to me. I have no warm place in my heart for the actual policies enacted during his little D.C. acting stint but mainly that is because I never hear his fans really say anything about him that explains why he was so great. I was eager to see how Reaganites would come to a thread such as this and defend his deplorable performance as POTUS. I only really see two defenses being offered here.

1- Reagan was really awesome because Obama sucks or wants to be like him or something.
2- Reagan was really awesome because Democrats suck.

Maybe the part of discussing Reagan where you actually discuss Reagan will be in the finale?

I cannot speak for anyone but myself and would feel even less inclined to claim to be able to speak for the dead but I can without certainty say this.

If anyone ever claims I was a bad person and lists reasons why after I am dead. Anyone that can only defend my by attacking someone else should just stay quiet and seated, thanks all the same.

And you were wrong in your aspect of Reagan being a fake incompetent, having no knowledge of the man himself of what all he was able to accomplish, shows that no research has been done on the man, or what all he suffered from in the last part of his presidency. The republicans are not evil, nor are the democrats complete idiots. However, what can be stated is that in this day and age, both parties are incompetitent.

Hey you said it...

It is very interesting that the person conservatives generally look to as an example of conservatism was
a horrible conservative.

It doesn't make any sense, it is like a pack of Christians drooling over Charlie Manson's ethical standards.

What is point of all the current moaning, if you worship the man who invented this mode of government?

The Obama comparison can cut both ways
he just needs a Big Boy hair do or a "southern accent"...
