Hi

During the period when the Disclosure Australia Project was up and running, I requested files, if any were held, on a number of Australian UFO groups, from the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO.) Initially, none were found. However, later one file did turn up, unannounced, in the National Archives of Australia. This file was file series A6122, control symbol 2155 titled "Flying Saucer Research Bureau (Qld)," However, it had information on it about two Australian UFO groups namely the Australian Flying Saucer Research Society and the Queensland Flying Saucer Research Bureau.

Recently, I revisited the digital version of the file in the National Archives of Australia, and was surprised to see that more pages have been released, and the file now held papers relating to a third Australian UFO group, the UFO Investigation Centre of Sydney.

I have posted more information in the blog at ufos-scientificresearch.blogspot.com... including details of how to access the digital version of the file so that you can read it for yourself.

Was there anything particularly 'moving' about the information kept on these groups by ASIO? OR should I take it your just pointing out that the ASIO is maintaining files on such organisations within Australia?

Hi

The motivations of ASIO were to look for pro-communist agents within the Australian population. This was clearly in line with their charter. It would seem that their interest in Australian UFO groups was along these lines.

However, the material contained in the file is of great interest to historians of the UFO subject, as it provides a deal of information on the motives of those running Australian UFO groups at the time.
