Sen. Sanders: Pentagon paid billions to fraudsters

www.rawstory.com

The US military paid $285 billion over three years to hundreds of military contractors that defrauded the Pentagon over the same stretch of time, a US senator charged Wednesday.

The sad truth is that virtually all of the major defense contractors in this country for years have been engaged in systemic fraudulent behavior, while receiving hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money," he charged.

The Pentagon also spent $683 million over the same period on 30 contractors convicted of c

Now bare with me
I am not going off-topic... at least in my opinion

The US has endorsed $150 million in supplemental aid to Jordan, increasing the total foreign assistance to the Kingdom during 2010 to $1.3 billion

With the supplemental assistance, total US aid to Jordan for 2010 stands at $810 million

Egypt:

Washington’s sudden aural ability to “hear the people/share their pain” has to be put in the context of American governments having created this regime and assiduously backing it with over $45 billion in military support. The US government, past and present, has willingly colluded with Murbarak’s police state in murder, terror and immiseration of the Egyptian people.

www.globalresearch.ca...

Don’t expect the shadow-war money spigot to close. The U.S. gives Yemen between $200 and $300 million annually in (mostly) military aid, supplying everything from attack helicopters to cargo planes to commando training. In a country with a 35 percent unemployment rate and a weak central government, that aid is happily diverted so Saleh can buy tribal chiefs’ loyalties.

www.wired.com...

Some may say that I am going off topic talking about no bid contracts from given by the Pentagon to corrupt entities and then talk of foreign aid.

Not really though!
Is it not the same thing?

It's billions of dollars that goes towards initiatives that if the people knew, would never support!

End Foreign Aid!
No more working with corrupt mercenary groups!!

Everything that you pay for is Insane!

I agree with the vast majority of the points I believe you are trying to make. It seems foolish for a nation which is battling tough times , to bleed itself white paying for the continuation of an unhealthy status quo in not just a single nation, but an entire region. And make no mistake it is the entire middle east that gets a slice of the Franklins.
Thing is, some nations dont receive money that ever got touched by the treasury, there are after all , many methods at the disposal of the defense and intelligence services of the US , of gaining funding. I wouldnt be at all suprised to hear that they are paid secretly and very well for keeping the US/Mexico borders so damned weak. I wonder what thier cut of the marching powder profit is? I would have thought that money so gained would be perfect for continuing to fund terror groups and rogue states on the quiet.
But I must protest at your assertion that Foriegn Aid must end. Its not the fact that aid exists , and is sent that is the problem. It is the end result of that aid, and the fact that there is military aid of any sort, paid to anyone.
The aid that is needed in these nation is the aid which teaches children who otherwise would remain uneducated, which leads to being easily lead, and easily radicalised. The aid that is needed is the aid which could potentialy improve the lot of some of the poorest people on the planet, installing infrastructure and support for medical centres, food stores, and building materials which would allow people who have only ever known rude accomodation to be at least able to rest in comfort when they sleep, rather than having to make bedding out of disused loading pallets , and bits of diseased rugs and blankets. The aid that is needed in the middle east, is the aid which keeps kids out of work, and in school, regardless of thier social status , and thier gender.
The unfortunate fact is , that aid in of itself is a GOOD idea, but aiming it at the most distasteful and dangerous element in a nation , the military , is a folly most dire, and shows an alarming lack of compassion for the plight of those who genuinely require the help.

Here's another link to the article. It looks like a genuine Agence France Press article. It's not surprising that there's no mention of it in the US MSM.

This is a totally outrageous situation. The fraud and corruption has got totally out of control in the most blatant and extreme way. This amount would pay off the national debt in no time.

These billions belong to the people.

the same rules and criminal penalties should apply to the people that fraudulently take our tax money, and the people the IRS and other collection agencies go after that don't pay their taxes

...if not more so since it takes millions of peoples labor to produce these taxes

why can we not take it back
...any normal citizen they would

I know companies that receive USAID dollars, mainly to help with agriculture in places in Africa and maybe Nepal
Some help does occur.

Unfortunately most of this money goes for the people but ends up and stays in the hands of dictators.
This is how the US maintains puppets around the global, through foreign aid.

It would be much more efficient if the U.S ends the income tax, then I guarantee you would see more results after private orgs help through donations.
The donations would actually go towards helping out people in need and not a penny of it would go to dictators.

You cannot trust people, I trusted people in power I would be a socialist.

Speaking in terms of ideal situations, a socialism should not have a central control , nor should its functions be carried out by persons who have power external to thier role. Ideally a socialism should be utterly transparant and disperse benificial assets evenly , and according to need. The problem comes when individuals are allowed to grab a hold of the assets before they come to be used, skimming off the top and leaving people the asset was intended for, high and dry .
Socialsim is not a problem, greed and corruption eating away at such systems like a cancer through a liver, is the problem. Socialism is power shared amongst all people, and the only reason you dont see it , is because no nation that has ever attempted socialism has kept true to its ideals. There has always been an overlord, a tyrant, a single seat of power. In a socialism every man woman and child would be the leader, and no one body would have control or power over another person or group.

Yes I agree
But that "Ideal" scenario applies to every political philosophy on the planet
So in the end they kind of end up being equal..... except for one of course
And that is a free society, a libertarian society with free market economics.

You cannot trust individuals, but you can trust the masses
This is why socialism will never work

I agree, but corruption and greed is reality
So at the end of the day the problem with socialism is.... reality!

The power associated with the people in socialism is given by the powers that be though
That's the problem
Govt. should not empower the people
The people should restrain power of Govt.!

This is the way it has to be
