Free pizza for the unemployed

www.myfoxorlando.com

The unemployment rates in Central Florida are hovering in the double-digits and there hasn't been a lot of good news lately for job seekers. In honor of those who are working hard to get back to work, Pie-Fection, a new fresh-ingredient, made-while-you-watch pizza restaurant in Orlando, offered free pizzas to Central Floridians Tuesday who have lost their jobs.

Finally, something other than doom and gloom eh? This is the real truth of it. As prices really start going up this Summer and more people are out of work, we're in for a real transformation.

We'll be seeing more news like this. Instead of focusing on all the anarchy, more people will be making contributions to their neighbors and friends. Honestly, when things really hit hard, I believe Americans won't be focusing on the lack of money, because there sure isn't a lack of resource.

How long before the government steps in though and imposes some form of regulation making it impossible for a business to charitably give to the unemployed? Give it time...give it time.

Otherwise, excellent news and good on the pizza place. Not only good advertisement and good standing with the community, it shows those that believe business is evil and only out to rape the little guy is not the rule, just an unfortunate exception pertaining to a small contingent group of companies. As the saying goes, thinking globally, act locally. Whatever that means...

That's great someones taking action and doing something positive to help those out of work. I think helping each other is what it's going to take to get thru our crisis and turn things around. I'm definitely not holding my breath waiting for our govt to do it.

I fail to see the point in this. one pizza, thats one meal for the day. then what?

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime."

Just feed everybody and send the

Ya know, kinda like Medicare.
Welcome to domesticated

teach a guy to fish, then tax his fishing pole and take his fish.

cut it up into so many tiny pieces that when it's redistributed, it's not enough to feed anyone, so demand he fish longer and catch bigger fish. and if he doesn't deliver, take his pole and give it to some other person who is clearly willing to work harder and longer to catch more and bigger fish. and as the demand for his fish rises, charge higher taxes on his pole. when he can no longer afford to live, he'll jump in the river and the fish will eat him.

rize or die! you got it.
sorry but socialism and fascism, don't work together well at all. in fact, it seems to be a perfect prescription for killing the patient.

i think this is wonderful, although it would be better if there
were actual jobs for people to feed themselves.

they know how to fish, but the corps and gov't has polluted the waters so badly, the fish aren't worth going after anymore????

aren't we who are working so lucky!! we have jobs!!! we get to work 8 or 10 or more hours a day!!!
while those poor unemployed, with their unemployment checks, their 8-10 hours of extra free time, their food stamps, their free pizzas and other goodies....
oh, god, I better stop, before I start wishing I was unemployed too!!!

and, to make matters worse, there was a change in ownership at our company, and now they make us work, even when there isn't any!!!

oh, well.....at least I make more working than I would from unemployment.....
and if a pizza shop makes that offer up in my area, welll, I have a few unemployed in my house, so I can still have my pizza!!!

This is ridiculous. What's next, 'Free Frappuccino For Felons Fridays' ?

When will the madness end?

are you just living up to your user name or are you serious? this business can operate any way they want within the laws. and there would be nothing wrong with free frapuccino felon friday, it would just be a service that a business would choose to provide, your opinion doesn't matter and it doesn't negatively affect anyone. and if it bothers you that you might encounter more felons there on a friday, or more unemployed people at pie-fection, don't go, or go start your own society.

I eat one meal a day. A whole pizza some times. If a person needs more than a whole 15" pizza to eat in a day , then that person should consider suicide or a diet, which ever is less troublesome

Sad there are always those who look for the pee in the snow.

You would think people PREFER bad news, bad things happening. Heaven forbid someone tries to brighten someone's day. Definitely they deserve to be cut down and lashed hate upon for helping out fellow human beings.

Way to go, world. Way to go.

I think people rather enjoy others misery and really don't want anyone to help or be there for others or do what they can to help even if it IS a free pizza.

I commend that business and wish all would do that. I'm seeing more and more people helping those who need it. BRILLIANT.
Cuz those who HAVE gotta realize anything can make them a have not. At any moment. Could be hit by a car and lose your limbs. Could get ill and lose your ability to work. company could fold - you don't know what's going on behind the bosses/owners doors.

Have some flipping compassion. THIS is why the world sucks. Good things happen and the misery lovers need to cut it down any way they can.

That disgusts me.

No kidding! Someone trying to do something positive and help others less fortunate amid all the doom and gloom and people knocking them for it and cutting down those that may be having a difficult time right now. What gives?

McDonald's already gives free food to you as long as you are stinky and rude and stand around and harrass the paying customers. I walked out of one one day, because they gave a sackfull of food to some homeless guy while I was counting pennies to pay for a $1 double cheeseburger! The manager said they do that to get rid of them so they won't bother the paying customers, but as a paying customer I was greatly offended!

Why do we constantly reward the worst decision makers and least productive members of our society while taxing, regulating, and riding the backs of the rest?

Everything from Child Support to Food Stamps to Free Pizza benefits the people who work the least and demand the most. It benefits the people that constantly make the worst possible decisions in life, and it punishes the responsible people.

Its been some decades since hard work and sensible investment was a certain way to avoid destitution sir. Its hardly fair to label people who have been the victims of terrible mistakes in banking , made redundant from steady jobs, and been victimised by legislature which promotes and asissts the corperate entities while ignoring or savaging the working man, all as lazy or idiots.
Maybe that held true in the seventies, but hard work and good sense arent a garuntee of anything any more. There wouldnt be tent cities in your nation if that was the case.
