Sky News state Cyclone expected to hit 10pm Oz time and coincides with high tide which will cause 7 Meter swells to hit the shore line. They're hoping and praying that Yasi will come a little later to avoid this but ......... who knows.

Electric off in many areas already.

I think this one should have been named YETI

The Premiere just said on the live coverage that it isn't expected to hit now until midnight tonight.
They thought previously it was going to hit at 10PM roughly.

Sorry but I do not agree with you. As others have stated it gives some idea of the scale of this thing. Living in Ireland, just seeing this off the Australian coast gives me no idea of scale. Plonking it on top of Ireland and seeing it cover the whole of France does since I can visualise that.

Basically you should not assume just because you are Australian that the size of your country means anything to people who do not live there. This was a very useful thing so thanks to Vitch.
