I have come to realise that just before a cold I gt a momentary weird little buz in one of my ears, I've been putting T-tree oil in my nose and ears to some good effect.

Yeah, I've "got better" 2 or 3 times but within a day or 2 it's back with a vengence.

One of my ill mates reckons that due to the ozone hole viruses and bacteria are mutating faster, mutagenic effects of increased uv and this is the result, I'm not ruling out escapees from Porton Down, from when it flooded just before we got foot and mouth.

Last year I was sick with what we presume was Swine Flu. Although it was out of my system in about a week, I had a barking and painful cough last year that I couldn't stop. My Bride remembered the homeopathic "kit" we'd put away, and dug out the little bottle of Licorice Root drops. I mixed 1-ml with an equal amount of filtered water, and tried to let it trickle down my throat. It worked. Prior to that time, I hadn't gotten any sleep to speak of for several days. the Brand is "Nature's Answer" and we've since acquired another six 30-ml bottles.

I see... Well, I'd sooner try some homeopathy and some stories...
For grownups though, short spirits sometimes dissolve the mucous on the throat. Obviously to moderation...
I myself do not take anything distilled except in the winter when I get some cold or flu.
Then - one method is mixing with cayenne and honey. (Although Scotsmen would scream if you mix a single malt with anything... and rightly so)

Hi Nef,

I had this back in October, had it for two months. Two months of doctors telling to "just let it run it's course".

It got that bad that in the end i demanded to see another doc, it was a young one, very keen and sent me for all the tests. Chest X-rays, cardio tests etc, but nothing.

It was the lungs it was hitting me worst, the only way i can describe it was like haiving a bad smokers cough however i've never smoked. I was coughing that hard, my brain hurt as though it was being shaken.

In the end, i spent two or three nights inhaling boiling water steam with diced raw oinion in it. During the days whilst i was inhaling this stuff, i got out on my bike (bicycle) and thrashed it as hard as my lungs would let me. I started off easy, but as much as i could, i really hammered it so i was literaly blowing out of my backside.

The crap that came up during that ride was unbelievable. Brown and thick (excuse the details), not like normal phlem, this was hard and almost like tar.

Anyway after a couple of days it was totaly cleared. I think the onion fumes broke it all up, maybe even killed whatever was in there?

CX.

One thing i will mention, and i know this is going to sound silly, but you'd be amazed how many neglect it.

Make sure you open your house windows daily. Especially during the cold weather recently, so many people i've spoken to have said they have just kept their windows shut and the heating up full blast. Thats just inviting infection.

If you can, make sure you have some water in a container above any radiators too, it will reduce the dry air you breathe in.

Raw onion over boiling water... I do not think I have ever heard of this before. What purpose does it serve?

I started using onions after reading a great thread here by randyvs...onions are apparently very good for killing infection.

Another thread on onions...

I'm not sure if it does as much good as it says, but they helped me a lot.

I doubt it could be TB. For one thing, I was inoculated. Another point: I've had the same problem last fall from September till November. Rarely does a flu act so concentrated in the lungs and the bronchi. So I went and had a chest X-ray in November.

Nothing.

Swine flu is probably the best bet.

I have been having these problems for weeks and weeks, and it has been getting worse and worse. I'm currently suffering from a sore throat that just won't quit.

Anyone know whats going on?

Peace.
ALS

Forgot to mention before the sore throat I had some sort of head cold, my ears were blocked, my nose was block, my eyes hurt and i'll felt very dazed and lifeless.

I had the same thing two years ago and many times before hand. I still get it to some degree but not as bad since my surgery.

For me it is all about sinus infections. The throat issue is due to drainage while lying down or sleeping and the infection moves into my chest as well and flares up my bronchitis (chronic bronchitis).

It got so bad before my surgery that it hurt to cough or breath. My throat hurt so badly that it was difficult to swallow. I was given multiple antibiotics (normally I do not take them) and nothing would get rid of it. Before my surgery I had the total infection for well over 6 or 7 months. It took having that infection for me to go to a doctor to get something done.

I assume my age had caused my sinuses to flare up even more. I have always had the problems with them but they got worse.

It might not be the same for you, but this is what my issue was. I went to the doctor many times before I got to a specialist and got the surgery. Nothing was touching the infection it just went from one spot to another.

I would suggest having a specialist check your sinuses and see if they might be what are causing all of this. They did a cat scan and found that my sinus cavities were filled. I could get no drainage due to narrow passages. They widened my passages and I get over the infections much quicker now only a week at most. They will not go away for me permanently unfortunately; however I am happy they do not linger for weeks at a time now though.

Edit to add: Some will tell you sinus infections will not cause fever or make you feel tired and worn down. They are incorrect in this. A sinus infection that is severe enough is not much different feeling than a cold or a light flu. A sinus infection if bad enough can make you feel rather horrid.

its a mold spore and a nasty one at that. this spore is everywhere and its been around since the beginning of time. some years it gets worse, just like pollen gets worse sometimes. best defense against it is garlic and onions and fresh filtered air. i think it going to come down to everyone having to start wearing masks and spraying lysol and clorox on everything.

Might explain why onions and a huge blast of frequent fresh air did the trick for me.

Get off those computers people, fresh air and sunshine is your friend!

Echinacea Capsules/Tablets - Solgar are probably best and available in the States.
EchinaForce Drops are excellent - BioForce product

You could also add some Bach Flower "Rescue Remedy" Drops

Going on 8 weeks here too. Symptoms chronicled in the thread OneisOne linked to. It's persistent as hell.

The only thing that finally brought some relief was doing a shot of Braggs Raw Apple Cider Vinegar in the morning and another at night. And relief is a relative term here. This is thick, gloppy stuff that almost chokes you. It does remind me of a different strain of what came around two or so years ago that the doctors never diagnosed either...the one where you got sick twice in a row and wanted to die. Right before all the "swine flu" hysteria hit.

The doctors do not know what this is...again...or if they do, they're not talking, and in face belittling it. What doctor would dismiss a patient presenting with these kinds of symptoms as some suffering "the common cold?" Really?

Oh man that sucks nef... Hope you feel better soon though my friend!

I haven't been sick since February 2007 (mild Flu 102F fever) though, not once at all, and the last time I have been sick to the point where I had to visit the doctors was March 2003 (rotavirus real bad). So it is my assumption that if I were to get sick it would not be good at all.

Just don't send it here to Florida!!!!!

For the past few weeks I have been sneezing, coughing, full of phlegm, occasional headache.....and it comes and goes.

I attributed it to smoking and having a long running cold. Your right about the sleep, if I wake up, even after an hour, I can't get back to sleep.

Look for a thread on here about using half an onion in a bowl of warm water...it works, it's only temporary, but it does help, and it seems to help get the nasty yellow gunk up off the lungs.

My 7 year old son had the same. Aggressive antibiotics helped with tea and honey.

The warning is about what my folks used to do. (I blame me dad, he's from Glascow) Honey lemon tea and a good dose of scotch. It kept us kids sound asleep for days.

Good luck and god bless.

I am sure that you had a lot of colds!! (Who wouldn't under the circumstances?) My Mum used to do the same.

Now seriously: I have been using Colloidal Silver for about a year now. I did not have my yearly 'flu shot, and I'm the only one among my friends who hasn't had colds or 'flu.I also use Colloidal Gold for
