I thought that this was a cool photo and wanted to share it with ATS.
spaceweather.com...

The photo displays solar wind that is spewing from a dark C-shaped hole which has opened up in the sun's atmosphere.
This photo is from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory and was taken on Jan. 31, 2011.
We should be having magnetic storms in early February, around the 2nd to the 4th.

ooohhh, I just noticed this.
12 more flags and I go Silver!

just before someone starts ranting that we all gonna die because of this:
This is normal and happens since more then 4 billion years

nice photo tho

maybe, just maybe the sun might want to tell us,-showing this promiment 'C'-, it now enters a more complex phase now

Gotta love the certainty in this post...yeah its normal but to say its been hapening for 4 billion years is rediculous...

How the hell would you or anyone on Earth no this to be fact????

We're all gonna die!!!!

Yes, it's been going on for billion and billions of years.

Thanks for the complement on the find.
I thought it was a cool photo too.
But what phase are you typing about,"it now enters a more complex phase now."

Maybe even tonight may be a good time to watch, but the 2nd to 4th should be spectacular.
I hope we don't have cloud cover again.

Yeah sure you just noticed this. Is this why you post so many threads lately? Does the status really mean that much to you? It should be about content and this is just a picture of the sun..Nothing special to see here.

What the heck happened on here lately. All people seem to care about are flags stars or getting recognition.

Cool pic though

Thank you for your contribution.
What significance do you see in the c-shaped hole forming?

Just curious, something I have wondered about for awhile. Here goes, I know seeing the Northern Lights around the poles is normal and maybe even an every day occurrence. But if I were to start seeing the lights as I moved closer to the equator would that be a potentially bad thing? I do understand how the lights are created but I suppose my real question is, should there be any concern if one saw the lights in lets say....Nebraska.

For all the good it may or may not do, I want to know if I see those lights if I should pull the plug on my entire house in hopes of keeping everything from blowing up.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

They happen all the time don't get your knickers in a twist everyone, there has already been a thread about these coronal holes, what most people forget to point out is they occur pretty often. There are pictures in the last thread of coronal holes bigger than the one seen in this thread in 2003.

Okay.. when I look at this, I see this...

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/118540a6cded.jpg[/atsimg]

I know it's a crazy reach but if you look at the "shadows" and the curves.. it really lines up

Perhaps the UFO´s seen near the sun planted a seed inside the sun.. and now its grown up to this ??
