encrypted.google.com...

As some of may have noticed by now, google now offers an encrypted search function. As many people as we have around here that despise google; does this make people more comfortable?

Na, why would it.

Is anyone here really going to bother with this?

It sure doesn't change my opinion. Looks like the end result of a PR meeting. Our concerns have nothing to do with the search. Its Google in general. Unless they can find a way to be non-existent, i'm using AltaVista.

Heh, I just set it as my homepage...

so, I guess that means yes.

As far as comfort scale...on a scale of 1-10 (10 being totally at ease I am on mars), I give this a 3 (old google was a 2).

Now..
take in firefox's IP scrambler, a few other privacy and security bits and bobs I got, and this together, and I am up to a 6-7

I can't use BING however, because half the time my search results are in a foreign language (due to the IP constantly switching from second to second) it tries to be convenient and do results based on where I am located...great...except that my location is anywhere on the earth at any given second.

heh, I have a friend whom works at Altavista.

I am soo not using that engine.

Just use some firefox plugins and its no worrys no matter what you use. most people get in trouble because they try to secure stuff without learning how to scramble your IP.

you can hop. Sure, if someone was right at the ISP, they could have a better idea of whats going on (once they get past my natural encryption anyhow).

Its about end sites figuring out where I am..if I go check out a --- backdoor, I want them looking in china verses here in lalaland as the source.
