Note: If you think this belongs somewhere better please let me know or move it onto someone who can move it.
The world we live in. It is quite an extraordinary and beautiful place. It is to our knowledge, one of a kind. It has the ability to sustain trillions of life forms and keep the cycle continuous over millions of years.
...and we, humanity, are destroying it. No. Wait. Whether we are destroying it is questionable in the long term since nature appears to be an unstoppable force. The weak links of nature eventually cease to exist while the strong survive.
But a recurring lesson in nature and the history of humanity is that all dominant forces topple. Whether we can apply this to nature as a whole is questionable but to humanity yes. Why?
Well first we have to look at why we are thriving. We are thriving in the billions because of our unending greed to reap the resources and exploit them at an unsustainable rate. If this rate is unsustainable can we say that our population is also unsustainable? Can we say our sin of greed and inefficient exploitation may catch up with us and bite us in the ass? Yes.
It already is.
All of our bodily systems are tainted with unprecedented amounts of toxic substances, some of which are handed down generation by generation. Do you not think this is a way of nature defending itself from us? By doing what we are doing we may eventually wipe out the human race, or at least those that refuse to change our ways (for example a move to becoming vegan may put you at an advantage at survival over others (in theory)) and eventually nature will reclaim what is rightfully hers.
I love how Zeitgeist has evolved and taught millions of us about what's going on in the world and it has unquestionably become a very intellectual film providing valid points about our future. Just as Zeitgeist is able to embrace change and "move forward" so must humanity.
The issue is that moving forward, changing and innovation are never accepted with opens arms. The greatest ideas in history, the business world, our personal lives have been shot down by those around us as ridiculous. But these remarkable persons remained headstrong and pushed humanity, our society, into a new era. Whether it is Steve Jobs and Apple or Martin Luther King and African American people or any one of the countless examples, the ability to change often signals a new era in our history.
Humanity has had the intellectual capability of understanding what life should be like for thousands of years. It is unfortunate that some of our greatest achievements have strayed us from this path so severely resulting in the exploitation of billions of people. It is great innovators such as Jesus, Che and countless others who for better or for worse have tried to put us back towards a better path.
The time is approaching that there will be a great change required for humanity to move on into the future. Whether it is the collapse of our market economy, a great spiritual awakening, ascension or what ever you believe the future has in store for us, it will be great and it will require all of our energy, our love, our passion for life to shift from the deadly sins and the unquestionable trust and faith we have in money and our social system.
Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Kindness and Humility.
No matter what your faith, what your skin color, nationality, sexuality, ________ality we are one, we are humanity and should work not only to be at one with each other, but at one with nature. In the end everything each individual part does, influences the whole. The earth is the biggest living organism and we are a part of it.

You sound like you have a very good heart. Try to hang on to that, and the world will be a better place.
