Nope, no resignation. Just saying exactly what he thinks the people want him to say. He just said he's always been geared towards economic reform, yet
he's been in power almost 30 years, and decides this now? Lots of key phrases included in this speech; "public good", "my fellow citizens", "I am
always attached to the suffering of the Egyptian people." and "I have taken the side of the poor people and will always do so." Seriously, just a load
of cliches.
Maybe I'm being cynical, and he really will take note, but like I say, if he really stood for any of these things, he would have have shown it during
the 30 years prior. I suppose he's come to realise he needs to throw a few carrots to the paupers, if he is to remain atop of his "throne"- let's just
hope that's what he does, and doesn't respond with an iron fist instead.
ETA: Although, he did just say he's going to order the government to step down, and he's going to name a new one tomorrow..
