So ther you go. The big quake didn't happen on that date, but something did.

Remember, when it comes to quakes the quakes we see beforehand are not indicative of quakes to come. The quakes that happen before hand are not "releasing the pressure".

Considering that topics concerning the Mayan Calendar are

What does this mean? Are you saying that the Mayan calendars are
difficult to use or comprehend? Or are you saying that the hoaxes
connected to these calendars are hard to understand? I certainly can
see the latter since the hoaxes are so asinine.

Gaddaffi says Libya will figt the no fly zone, on the 9th also.

Gaddafi or Quaddafi or however the name is translated to the Latin alphabet cannot stop the Western air superiority. This has been seen since the early 80s with his line of death. This boast is for his internal supporters and not for the outsiders that laugh at this claim.

Everything has a context. In some areas a 3 or 4 makes the
newspaper. In some places a quake such as a 7+ does not make
the news because no lives there, or there is no damage, Some
volcanic eruptions do not make the news. In places like
Indonesia, composed of over 13,770 islands, what is an
eruption? It is a typical event.

Take a look at the bottom map. It shows the 7 and up quakes for that area since 1900. There are over 50. I didn't bother counting all of them. A 7 is not unusual for that area. If some of those did not do damage, then the quake would not have been newsworthy.

Look at the middle map. It is titled "Seismicity in 2011". There are a lot of quakes. That area is active. Quakes are the norm.

An important thing to understand is that the energy released by the large quake dwarfs all of the other quakes combined. The lesser quakes do not release energy or mitigate the larger quake.
