But why? And this may need a thread of its own.

Why is America a great industrial republic - - - if it actually is (or was).

What's so wrong is that all of that is ideological talk. He didn't hold up to any of his campaign promises in 2008. He's up for reelection. He'll say what he can to be reelected. I wouldn't buy into it.

I've heard this before - - like in every new president.

Which is a lot - - since I'm 64.

I'm so sick of the Obama bashing - - - with no real facts.

The US actuallty used to make stuff, now China makes most it

The only thing the US makes now is money, quite litterally and making money by buying and selling debts on the Roulette Table A.K.A Wall Street

So why does China make everything?, because everybody wanted cheaper Toasters, Hair Dryers etc.....
Manufacturers gave people exactly what they wanted, cheap crap. And you can also point the blame to Americas favorite company Wal-Mart.

Given enough time, China will want cheaper labor and may export it to the USA.

I wasn't bashing obama. I was just saying that I didn't agree with him anymore and that what he says shouldn't be trusted. if what you say is true about politicians, then really no politician should readily be trusted. but i still trust presidents, politicians, government officials, and candidates that i feel are capable of at least achieving a few of their campaign promises.

I've lost faith in obama and i'm ready for somebody new. that's all.

And I was saying - what you were saying - is the same exact thing I hear about every new president.

I'm sorry - - but if you can't even capitalize his name - - its telling.

What? No mention of geographical location of natural ores?

The Iron revolution? Did you know we buy our nickle from Mark Rich?

Anyway - - we've become a transitional society - - that needs instant disposable product - - - as opposed to products that last a life time and are handed down through generations.

How is that China's fault or responsibility? Seems to me China provides customer needs.

it's telling of what? that despite being capable of proper grammar, punctuation, capitalization and sentence structure, that simply because i chose not to abide so stringently to grammar rules and sentence structure when i'm not typing out a business report or school project, that you're going to try and distract from what i was saying by making an ad hominem attack on my character?

and yes i'm aware that was a long run-on sentence. but a person doesn't always have to be required to display proper forms of grammar in order to express their opinion. it's just an online forum.

moving on from that, i do believe that there is some truth to how presidents are deceitful and will say things only to get elected. but i'm not 64, so i'm not sure about everything that you've experienced or heard. personally, i'm for spreading awareness, and when a president acts a certain way that I feel to be poor representation for the people, i will express my opinion.

Obama was a proponent of transparency and vocally supported creating legal avenues where whistle blowers could leak information that revealed irresponsibility and deceit on behalf of the government and its officials, and not be severely and criminally punished for doing so.

Then wikileaks emerges with Bradley Manning and other such leaks, and rather than obama backing his own desire for transparency, and rather than improving upon deceit, corruption, and irresponsibility in the government, he instead condemns wikileaks, as did several of the administrators in his cabinet. obama does absolutely nothing for Bradley Manning.

Instead... he supports an act that sought to go behind the curtains and strong arm businesses and nations so that wikileaks would be shut down and Julian Assange would be tried as a traitor, despite being an Australian citizen who is operating in Sweden. The bottom line is, rather than make politics more transparent and make politicians more accountable for their actions, Obama instead supported showing what the government was capable of doing in terms of brushing their own deceit and irresponsibility under the rug and attempting to wipe their hands clean of the situation.

And in some instances, to me it was scary just how effective the government was at that. That is not transparency in the least.

btw, "it's" is a contraction of the words "it is", and therefore requires an apostrophe when combining the two, which you neglected to place.

Exactly, it's not. China did not force US Businesses to build crap in china, that was American Greed and peoples acceptance of a Throw Away society. China

Same garbage they been selling since Nixon and it will never change untill we make it change.

Demand it and be willing to fight for it, this is our country not the governments.

The founding fathers built this country for everyone on this land not for just a elite few.

The problem is that we keep getting fooled with false promises and someone should be held accountable.

Its thier job to fix these problems period. When they step up for the job they need to do and do it properly. The President gets everthing given to them on the tax payers dime and get a million dollar salary to boot. They get this money no matter thier preformance.

can you see the problem

Its like we get an estimate on the damage, then we pay up front, and the job never gets finished.

I cant believe how some folks here are saying how sincere he was! Talk about clueless! (Them and then him).

Do not you realize its not his words, not written by him and he is told what to speak about and what not to?

The only thing "sincere" about that guy (and yes...sorry to say I voted for him -big mistake)...is his IN-SINCERITY!

What tends to give him more credibility is when the Audience starts Applauding for no reason, like they borrowed an Applause sign from NBC, all that was missing was the laugh track. He should of opened with "Hey did you ever Notice..." or "What’s with the age gap hiring policy at most movie theaters" or "What's the Deal with...."

The sheeple watching on TV will think, wow he must be right they all agree so It must be a good thing. Then you have the Fox Experts afterwards saying how good it was (naturally), you never bite the hand that feeds ya.

But, The left are never right, and the right are never right either.

Excellent, my condolences for your poor choice. I didn't vote for him but regret my poor choice as well. The problem we have is that no matter who you voted for and what party they are from, if you voted you almost certainly made a poor choice.

American exceptionalism, that's a great topic for the kids to study in history class. At this point we have devolved to such a degree as to be laughable. From horribly stupid trade deals, ridiculous laws and confiscatory taxes to outright looting by the politicians where is the exceptional part? That doesn't look any different than any other banana republic or socialist utopia.

What we desperately need is someone we can vote for and not be ashamed of our decision a few months later. Good luck with that one I suppose.
