Something Is Happening At Glacier Peak, Washington NOW (1/25/11)

So go HERE and pull up the seismo for station SOS. This is at Helens. It is showing something at the same time....

Then do the same thing for station VLL....this is Mt Hood. Same thing. What the Heck??!!


Edit to add: Okay guys....now I'm REALLY wondering. Pull up MBW and look at 12 hrs. (24 hrs if you look at this on the 26th) It shows up VERY strong there. That is Mount Baker....

Well this is all interesting with the posts about possible Harmonic Seismic activity at Yellowstone. The seismic activity in your area, and then to top it off a good reference site seems to have stopped all together.

I go offline for a couple hours and it seems I risk missing the whole West coast sliding into the Pacific. Again, I wanna throw out there that, even though the Glacier Peak activity was earlier, and more significant, the 1.9 near Seattle could be related (and would indicate a much larger area that could be affected), especially considering the rest of the activity in the area that you just posted. Not that it matters really, I just started with that premise, I might as well follow through with it.

If anything, it makes me glad I live on the other coast...though, we've got our own stuff to keep our eyes on.

Yes, I agree that all these mini quakes as late may be a bigger indicator. Also of note, there was another 174 deep tremor epicenters located today HERE . (please see that thread in my sig line for more info) This is again a lot, and yesterday there were over three hundred. It is spread up all along the coast rather than clustered like normal.

Yup, and Puterman mentioned he was unable to pull info from IRIS and I was unable to load up arrays off GEE today. Coincidence? (probably )

i have a notifier on gogle chrome for earthquakes n there was an earth quake in idaho with 0.1 depth im pretty sure thats not normal right ???

West coast, outstanding work! I'm in Puyallup, WA and would have no clue this was going on if not for your updates. We down here in the shadow of mt rainier tend to forget about the other sleeping monster that lerks to the north.

Now, if only I could read those darn graphs!

very close to the danger zone, if not in it already... In the past, some people have discussed the possible fallout for Bellingham if Glacier Peak or Mt. Baker were to erupt, and it was said that mudslides could easily reach the coastline causing widespread damage...

good find you would make a good seismologist, go to this link and see today's activity www.pnsn.org... the link works just fine self explanatory easy to use helps to have note book to keep track of web recorder stations side note click one circle at a time until you get the hang of it seems the NW is active, eq's 2.+ all over the place, could the range be up too some thing?

Yup, saw that quake just a bit ago. It is VERY shallow for a mag 3+ quake, but not unheard of. I am not familiar with the seismic history of that area though, so I really can't say. It has been reviewed twice, so I imagine that depth might stick...you normally see those shallow ones changed after review.

Mount saint helens had a 1.9 quake I see this afternoon, and now two more micro quakes not far from there all in less than two hours. So there is a lot of little shakes happening.

Yup, that is one of the sites I have been listing. It is one of my favorites.

Cool thing to do is to select the option to plot by depth. Try it. It clearly defines which quakes lie in what zone. Note all the volcanic stuff is the shallowist in the blue!

This will guide you to what to do BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER a volcanic eruption. Who knows, you may want to research the nearest FEMA Camp near you. I hear they are established to "protect" you.

I am able to see Mt. Baker from where I live. I sure don't hope to see or feel seismic activity from that volcano

no to much activity to be just one volcano i think it has more to do with the fault zone yes it could make a volcano be come more active but the depth and wave is more fault zone look at Ca, and then the big yellow spot (square at the coast ) of WA? OR? cant remember which one then look east UT and ID had some shakers as well.

If one looks carefully at all the other most recent updates on the volcano activities, you can clearly notice that Yellowstone National Park hasn't been updated since 1/1/2011!!!!! That's over 25 days it has gone while all the others have recent or within a week-recent enough material.

Is it possible they are hiding new data? Has anyone else seen or heard of the recent activity in other threads or have statistical reads on YSNP?

Most recent I heard is that the ground bulged 10inches...

The USGS site's "Recent Earthquakes" page has been wonky for a while.
I've found a detour- go to the "Real-time map" and then select an "Earthquake List" M2.5-4.5+ or M5+
