I'm getting very fed up with hearing people on this board, mostly Americans, making claims like 'The UK is under Islamic control', 'Look at what is happening in the UK with Muslims', 'Muslims and Sharia Law are taking over the UK' etc.
None of these are true. People making these comments have more than likely never been here or experienced living here.
In the UK, Islamophobia and general mistrust of Asian communities have become commonplace more and more since 9/11 and 7/7.
It now seems to be almost socially acceptable in this country, and in the US, for white non-muslims to rant about the entire religion of Islam.
It has to stop.
The country is grasping at media-fed lies and manipulation with both hands and eating it right up.
The only thing i noticed about the UK going downhill recently is nothing to do with Muslims. There seems to be an increase in biggoted, Daily Mail reading, untolerant, illogical people who now seem to be actually encouraged by the media to spout their baseless viewpoints about 'how the Muslims are taking over'. I hear more and more people voicing racist opinions openly and getting away with it. We are all being brainwashed to fight amongst ourselves. Divide and conquer remember?
One of the largest misconceptions is the whole 'Sharia Law is taking over the UK' lie.
Only those that have never read into what Sharia law is and how it is applies here would fear it. Ooooooohhh someone needs a divorce.......so scary. The truth is we have many religious courts for many religions dealing in marriage, divorce, business matters, civil matters etc. But all of a sudden there's outrage over one religion doing it. If you believe Sharia Law = stoning, whippings and mistreatment of women, please go contact a Sharia court and spend a day with them to see what it's really all about.
So why is Pollockshields in Glasgow well integrated and areas or Birmingham are not? Could it be anything to do with the way they are viewed/treated/looked upon by non-Muslims in the local area? What can we do to improve integration and lower mistrust? These are the type of questions we need to be asking.
If you ask me what the REAL problem is in the UK it's neds/chavs.
Where are the people saying that these groups in society cause a high percentage of crime and should be dealt with? Where is the media outrage?

Live and let live. UK muslims don't want to destroy our society. Considering a lot of them are better off in the relative safety of the UK rather than the harsh lands of which they escaped.

Racism is by no means a "white mans" problem as the mainstream media like to portray it, it makes me laugh that if there is an attack of some sorts on a muslim person or something that offends them then it makes it into the media. Whereas if there is the same kind of thing being done to an english white person, it doesn't even make the papers and is brushed under the carpet to keep the illusion of racism being a "one-sided" thing going.
"I think that your thread is nonsense.Muslims are a blight on our once proud nation.you just have to look at the case of the muslim men grooming and selling for sex young, white girls. When BNP leader Nick Griffin in 2005 told the media of this being a common problem amongst the muslim community(they think white women are easy so therefore deserving of this treatment)he was arrested for inciting racial haterid."

Actually, the BBC have been quite fair on EDL protests and have NEVER described them as thugs. In fact, they wouldn't describe anyone like that themselves, unless they are quoting someone else.
I have heard them state equally that UAF people have caused trouble and there was a protest last year where the BBC stated, on their website, that the EDL were quiet and obeyed Police instruction, taking refuge in a pub while UAF and lots of violent asian men were outside throwing bricks and steel bars.
The BBC are the most unbiased news network you will find. Yes, there are slight left leanings, but at least they tend to give you both sides of the coin, rather than the SKY news tripe, which is basically The Sun on TV.edit on 24/1/11 by stumason because: (no reason given)
