Late jump in reply but why don't we as humans with dignity just start chartering pilots with small planes to get us from here to there?

You would be surprised at how many pilots with private planes would love to help someone else get somewhere while supporting their passion. No you may not get to L.A.to N.Y. for 89$ but you won't be groped like a veal to see if you are ready to slaughter either.

What is your dignity worth.
