(even though he didn't have to) in order to satisfy the people who claimed he was AWOL.

Most people are already satisfied.

And your Bush military records comparison only helps Southern Guardian’s point because there are still people who believe Bush was AWOL. They’re not as vocal now because he isn’t in office anymore.

If Obama doesn’t get re-elected how many birthers will there be? Yeah...

It's the election where these "birthers", whatever that even means, will come out in full force. It seems prudent to release his bc so that it's not much of a problem. I say 'not much' because obviously there are conspiracy theorists who do not believe anything the comes from the establishment even if it is proven legitimate.

What do you base that claim on? The CNN poll a few months ago says you are misinformed and that is a false statement:

politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...

Forty-two percent of those questioned say they have absolutely no doubts that the president was born in the U.S.
I read that to mean 42 percent of people are satisfied. That's not most people.

According to my math, that leaves 58 percent who at least have some have doubts, meaning they are NOT satisfied. Included in that 58 percent are people like me who think he was probably born in Hawaii but have some doubts and would like to see vital record that Okubo has offered to release upon Obama's request.

There are other polls I find less credible than the CNN poll that report even more people are not satisfied. I think the CNN poll is probably one of the more accurate polls on this issue. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points so that means the true percentage of people not satisfied is somewhere between 55% and 61%, a clear majority.

You are attributing your view to those 29% that responded that Obama was probably born in the US. I could say that one could interpret that those 29% are satisfied because, if they weren’t, they would have, at least, responded he was probably born in another country. How do you know they are not satisfied? You don’t, you just choose to attribute them your view to get a majority.

Actually an accurate poll would be one that asked people “Do you think Barack Obama has to disclose his original vital records?” That’s what we are talking about here: people that demand that he show his original records. That’s what the birthers are, people who keep denying the certificate he has presented, and the explicit statement made by the Director of the Department of Health of Hawaii, are enough.

So your claim is that the 29% like me who think Obama was probably born in the US but have some doubts should have responded differently than we believe and instead reported that we think he was born in another country?

If we think he was probably born in the US, why would we respond to the poll that we think he was born in another country?

I can't claim to represent the entire 29%, but since I'm one of them, I can share my thought process and say your suggestion that I should have answered the poll to say I think he was born outside the country when that's not what I think makes absolutely no sense to me.

However once a poll is done, we can always think of different questions we might ask, or different ways to word the question. While I agree the poll doesn't use the word satisfied, I do think my interpretation is a reasonable one and your suggestion that people should answer the poll incorrectly to express their dissatisfaction is unreasonable makes no sense to me.

I'm over the Republican/Democrat arguments personally. I think it's interesting that the government can at many times demand such documents but when the little serfs try to do the same, they are just told no. Who are we to request information about the royalty in America? This type of thing just furthers the divide.

Reminds me of Congressman Clyburne from South Carolina who tried to use the Tucson tragedy as a stepping stone to have special privileges when it comes to airport security and the TSA. He actually stated that Congress shouldn't be treated like normal people. This is the government that, by definition, is supposed to work for the people.

this is one of them Da in if you do Da if you don't, he is the POUTS get over it 2 years left then vote , even if the voting is rigged you can say you did your part by voting against him, and if your are that worried look in to USC and see what law there is to bring this to a end make him prove it in the court of law, in this matter it would be the Congress.

So your claim...

My claim is that we don’t know if the 29% are, or aren’t, satisfied with not having seen Obama’s original vital records. That’s what you birthers want, is it not?

(...) your suggestion that people should answer (...)

I didn’t suggest how people should or shouldn’t answer. I expressed an interpretation one could make of the numbers. Oh, I’m sorry, were you under the assumption that poll numbers had only one, and a right, interpretation?

I do think my interpretation is a reasonable one and your suggestion (...) is unreasonable makes no sense to me.

Noted.

Man, I can't believe I missed this thread!!

I just saw a headline that indicated that TEN states are now working on legislation similar to AZ's where the original long form Birth Cert. must be used and confirmed before one can register to run for POTUS. That would make this whole thing very interesting.

I think the Dems and Republicans are going to Self-implode at this rate.

Funny how this story has played out in the media since it broke.

Yes it's interesting.

If roughly 6 in 10 Americans weren't sure about Obama's birthplace before Abercrombie got involved, as the CNN poll showed, I doubt seriously that the percentage of Americans with doubts has gone down after this incident. My guess would be that more people may have doubts now. If CNN does a repeat poll in 2011 it will be interesting to see how the numbers shake out, though if Obama can influence the media, he might not want them to do another poll, I'd be afraid of how big the numbers of doubters will be on the next one.

Only time will tell if any of that legislation passes.

Maybe the trick is, you have to insert multiple keys and turn them all at the same time, sort of like when they launch a nuke, and nobody told Abercrombie what the trick was?

How do you know that? Considering how Obama's acted so far ... I find it highly doubtful.

So you believe Obama releasing his original long form birth certificate will put this conspiracy to rest, and how is that? Are to assume that birthers will be more easily swayed by an oldish looking birth certificate with a doctors signiture? That easy? After Fukino's statements and his short form?

Take it this way, if Obama releases his original birth certificate, how will you figure about it's authenticity if you refuse to believe Hawaiian authorities?

Just release the damn thing ..

If Obama releases it, will you still have questions about his past? Will you still believe he is a socialist or communist?

Heck, even Bush43 released his military medical records

Did Bush43 show his original birth certificate?

It really doesn't matter now if Obama releases it or not. He's showing the American people and the world that he is incompetent as the POTUS. It would be a different story if he had tried to bring the US out of this recession and not go on elaborate vacations around the world.

He's definitely a person with a mega-ego problem. My question would be, if he thinks of himself as so great, what's he trying to hide from the people that he's been elected to lead?
