For a long time I thought our campaign attacks were vicious and uncalled for. It was also my assumption that the campaigns had only recently gotten very dirty and vulgar. Well it appears that I was absolutely wrong in that analysis.

See, this proves it, the rhetoric was directly related to Burr shooting Hamilton!

Hey, you been listening to somebody?

Awesome find.

Seriously puts things into perspective notwithstanding that newspapers, placards and banners were sole source of media. (No TV, Radio, Internet) Just look how far we've progressed.

Cool find, I always thought this type of stuff started with Johnson and his "Daisy girl" ad:

Just imagine how nasty it would've gotten if they had TV back then. I hear politics got especially nasty in the so called "era of good feelings" after the Federalist party collapsed and there was no opposition to the Democratic Republican party. During that time, they didn't have political parties to hide behind and the attacks against their opponents became VERY personal.
