Have you all lost the capacity and capability to do even the simplest and most basic research to answer your own questions ?

The following information that clearly explains observed changes in the moon's apparent size when viewed at different times took me less than 2 minutes to find using a simple Google search.

This apparent difference in size is clearly obvious in the following image.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/b33cfe75a020.jpg[/atsimg]

The orbit of the Moon is distinctly elliptical with the nearest and farthest points in the orbit called the perigee and apogee respectively. The resultant non-circular form of the lunar orbit causes variations in the Moon's angular speed and APPARENT SIZE as it moves towards and away from an observer on Earth.

Thank you. I thought I'd have to say it myself. I faced palmed as soon as I read this thread. I thought this was common knowledge and even if it wasn't I assumed people would look it up if they were interested.

@OP I sometimes wonder that and how on eart it actually keeps repelling around instead of floating off to space.

No the moon is getting further away from earth. Such sudden changes in size are due to humidity. The water particles in the air act as a lens.

If you figure out gravity, you are looking at a lavish life. Not to mention the possibility that it could open up the route to faster than light travel.

Have you ever thought of doing reverse image overlays of the Moon surface reversed over the Earths surface. I highly recommend you try it in Google Earth. You will see that the Moon has indeed hit the Earth before, and not just once, but many many times. I am dead serious. I think it's the biggest cover up on the planet. Check it out!

I know that this is an old thread, but I thought this might interest you, since you live in China. Have you ever heard of Mare Orientale on the Moon? It is the huge ringed crater. I study the Moon surface by reversing or flipping images of the lunar surface, and overlaying them onto the Earth, Everyone should do this in Google Earth, you will be shocked to find that Mare Orientale has hit China many times. It leaves it's mark all over China. Another is the Mare Smythii impact that hits Thailand , and Vietnam as the center of the impact.

2012 may 5 full moon is supposed to be 14% bigger than usual cause it is at its closest point and will move away again til next time it comes that close again and then it will move away...i dont know the time periods,im sure the stats are available. if you really are concerned, lots of events are happening that could be considered influences on the earth, the photon belt we are approaching has a magnetic field nasa is following.the suns field is flipping like it does every 12 years so it isnt pulling as hard, and the flares are releasing easier til the field is done flipping.,the earths field appears to be flipping which it hasnt done in 680,000 years, lots of changes that could pulling the earth at the crust, which might explain the increase in geo activity.there could even be idiots at harpp pounding the new madrid fault.whole lotta shaking going on.how the hell do i know all this # i drive zamboni for a living!
