GOP to widen scope of proposed same-sex marriage ban

You said it all there saturn, along with some other members here. But you know what, there is still a large influencial segment of the public that GOPers are catering this to. The problem is not just with our government, it is with fellow americans. People go on about government this, government that, and ignore the fact that either they or their family members, neighbours, continue voting in these idiots and continiously support these silly laws.

A consistant accusation made by homophobes and bigots is that gays are promiscuous and spread AIDS.
Yet when gay couples want to join in a legal, committed, long-term relationship, these same bigots do everything they can to stop them.

I suspect there are powerful people who keep stables of politicians, carefully selecting homosexuals and getting blackmail material on each, and use this blackmail to control their "investments".
If homosexuality becomes acceptable to the general public, that's one less threat that can be used to keep their pollies in line.

ATS is home to some pretty extreme neocons. Some real far fringe types...yet this is rarely a issue to them. I wonder who it is these politicians work for if they can't even muster support from any but the most extreme fringe minority of the fringe minority...

Or is it the "too ignorant to even use a computer" crowd that also supports keepin them gays outta civil unions?

Gays: We don't want just civil unions, we want marriage
Politicians: Lets make it illegal not to just gay marry, but also gay civil unions
Gays: Wait...ok, we want our unions...


Could be a threat so the gay community settles for just civil unions?
