A vote for COICA is a vote for internet censorship, and the end of the internet as we know it. It opens the door for unchecked abuse by unelected bureaucrats and big corporations over small, independent providers of goods and services.

Without judicial oversight, these blacklists could reach the websites of political candidates and advocacy groups. This bill is opposed by some powerful people, but the Senate has ignored them. The list is too long and exhaustive, and this is just the group that sent ONE letter in opposition!

For me at least, no more NBA, NFL, or major league baseball among other things. It is all about protecting their turf and their advertising revenues over our freedoms.

Luckily there are still around 230 mil Americans and 10,000 companies that haven't signed on to this nonsense. Oh right that doesn't matter.

Can someone help me comprehend how they are censoring the internet? Are you saying I won't be able watch HD gay porn? Just trying to see if this will affect me.

No you can still watch, you will just have to have a government license to watch gay porn in high quality HD.

This bill will allow the government to control what you and I have access to on the internet, and this includes information. Keep in mind that the laws are often written in a way that is designed to look harmless, but opens a big wide door for abuse.
There is a reason why so many professionals in internet tech and other related fields (some linked above) are against this, and all of us should be too.

I see a lot of clothing/jewelry companies and entertainment/tv/cable companies....okay...i get the entertainment industry (BELIEVE me I GET IT )))

However, what's up with the apparel companies? Are they really threatened by the dude selling fake Tiffany & Co.?

When this happens you can be guaranteed people will cancel their internet subscriptions and find something else to do like perhaps go outside and breath some fresh air .

Then again your right they will make it seem like its harmless but will abuse their powers , i already am planning to quit internet but then again its very hard too .

All these companies and corporations can kiss my hairy ass ( yes i know gross ) ..

If you look at the list again you may notice they list a company before each city, almost as if they're associated...

ugh 2 companys in my city of portland and one next to me what is this O.o

Yeah I noticed that too...I am from Portland as well...but hey the companies are not the people...those are just headquarters.

There are probably tons more not on this list. HBO (unless it's on there by another name) is one that comes to mind that the internet drives totally insane. Good to know who these companies are. Some are no doubt on this list from a purely marketing/revenue aspect and are not thinking through the ramifications and are probably not viewing this as "censoring the internet" at all. That's an extrapolation.. Thanks for posting this.

Yes, there are more big corporations and plenty of federal bureaucrats that would like nothing more than to be able to "feed" whatever content they want to us. The ones I linked are party to ONE letter. There are undoubtedly others.
We cannot be complacent about those things that are precious to us, or we will watch them die like a bad relationship that just needed a little love.
And attention.
