And how is that working out for you so far?

Did your guns protect you from the Patriot Act? And every other law passed since then that destroys freedom?

This is a GREAT point and really highlights the mental state of many Americans. It seems we are waiting for some imaginary line to be crossed. We are waiting for trains to start loading citizens and death camps to be everywhere before we fire the first shot. The truth is that incremental steps will be taken over the next 50-200 years with "domestic terror" occurring here and there along the way. Those generations in the future will be born not into America, but something so different that it would be shocking to us I assume.

You are completely forgetting fishing, or is it not enough fun to shoot fish?

Don't talk to me about survival techniques when you clearly know little yourself.

That's the problem... we DON'T WANT to start shooting. We are trying to handle these things through the legal lines that are open to us. This is a difficult and unfair task for average Americans to attempt. We are close to getting the socialistic healthcare bill repealed, so that is one step closer in OUR favor.

Like I said. I am allergic to fish... so I am going to assume others are to. And we need more than berries to survive off of. Otherwise we would have grew into herbivores throughout the ages.

I agree, fishing is the easy way to go... if you have a body of water. Are you going to tell the people in the middle of Arizona to go and fish because they had to give up their guns?

Also, we need protection from animals, too. You do realize that a great number of people died from animal attacks before we had the advent of guns, right? An arrow is very weak against animals like a wild boar or a bear.

Are you seriously trying to compare thousands of years of deaths to animals before guns to the few hundred years we have had guns?

And it doesn't matter whether you are bloody allergic to fish or not, there are plenty of alternatives. How the hell do you think humanity survived from the dawn of time until guns were invented? Yes, the majority of our Starbucks/McDonalds culture may actually have to pick up a book and learn it (gasp!!!) or be taught, but you will be surprised at what humans are capable of in times of need - the survival instinct kicks in.

Micheal Moore is about the biggest walking contradiction on the face of the earth.
A true moron.

Okay... I know that better shelters are also helpful to our protection. But let me ask this:

If guns were never invented, and bows were being used in grocery store stickups and murders, would you then be saying, "We NEED to ban the selling of bows to people." Or what about spears? KNIVES TOO?

Your logic is terrible. You are blaming the instrument for the actions of the person. Do cars get drunk and drive into people? Do planes fly themselves into objects? Do electric chairs strap people to themselves? Do drugs jump down the throats of people? No. NONE of these things happen, EVER.

You want to ban guns because of what COULD happen if they are used for evil purposes, right? How about banning cars because people COULD potentially drive drunk? Or ban liquor (Oh wait, we tried that, and it led to... you guessed it, MORE CRIME!).

No matter what is said in this forum, unless the people of the US stand up in unison for one side or the other, we are never going to see change. Either let EVERYONE own a gun, or destroy every gun at the same time. Either way, there will always be someone murdering someone with some object that has a questionable reason it being lawful to own.

Here we are at the gun issue, yet another issue that pushes the masses apart so that they are easier to control.

There are negatives and positives to both side of this issue – but I have to say, I would rather be able to own a gun then not be able to.

What country could successfully invade the USA? Even Russia stated they would lose a land battle if they set foot on American soil because it would be mass chaos figuring the amount of weapons we have.

Aside from that – let us say the USA disarms and every law abiding citizen turns in their fire arms. Now, who has the guns? The criminals. So, evidently Michael Moore is calling the law abiding citizens (Black, White, Oriental, Spanish, Hindu etc.) racists? What a bloated sack of hot air.

How about this scenario – IF ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZINS HAVE TO GIVE UP THEIR ARMS, THAN SO DO THE POLICE, FBI, NSA and CIA. Lets see how they fight crime without them.

If anyone is part of the propaganda machine of the New World Order it is definitely Moore. Racism is only a product of the people trying to keep us apart... and unfortunately, just like people subscribe to it – people also subscribe to the gun issue in the same way.

We are NOT evolved enough to live without weapons. It is sad, but true.

If my logic is terrible then yours is beyond reason - Were cars and planes designed purely to kill? No. And the electric chair? Come on mate, seriously? Oh and drugs were designed to get people high, not as a weapon if death. Your examples lack any logic whatsoever.

I never said ban. Just highly restrict. In Australia anyone can still get a gun license provided they have good and valid reason - such as a farmer for pest control or security services. That person is also subject to random checks by the police as to the guns proper usage and secure storage in a mandatory gun safe.

And again you use examples of things that were not designed purely to kill (unless of course you are going to try to convince me they have other uses - perhaps a walking stick for the elderly?)

I think you are only speaking of Americans here, much of the rest of the civilized world is doing fine without the need to own guns.

In all real truth, unless you are a US citizen, then you will never truly understand.
I don't expect anyone that has never had this freedom in the first place to understand this.
The spoon was invented to get food into a persons mouth. But, since there are people with no self control, they use the spoon and its cousin the Knife and Fork to over eat, causing obesity and leading them to a short life span.
To say that the gun was invented for offense is very ignorant. I don't think that you were around then.
Americans, for the most part really don't walk around with their nose in the air over the fact that those in the UK, OZ or Asia don't have the right to own firearms. I would expect the same from them.

Ok, good for you and those like you. That is why Russia was invaded, and beaten back with help from the US. France was invaded and beaten back by the US. OZ had staging plans to be invaded, yet was beaten back by the US. Yet, when Britain invaded, the US beaten them back.

What a complete load of Bollocks. You are the epitome of American arrogance - claiming that it was all Americas doing that we won WW2. You dishonour the memories of all the millions of people from other countries who died fighting the same enemy. Disgusting.

I'm willing to bet that Michael Moore owns several guns. Anyway, didn't he die in Team America World Police? I think he's just pulling a Lindsay Lohan to be shocking and boost his image, since he's pretty much out of any fresh ideas.

i don't think you understand...rules and bogus laws from England is why the US revolted. I don't own a gun, but having a gov't body determine who can have one is a purely evil concept. While the English accept this gov't control, we do not. Ain't gonna happen.

The examples were of inanimate objects causing harm without the actions of a human. You are simply evading the fact that you are wrong. Yes, guns were created to kill. So were bows. So were game-traps (At least the humane ones). Without the ability to kill an animal, we can not eat the animal. Do you see the error in your argument? Everything has a specific purpose. A .308 rifle is not designed for self defense, it is design as an offensive weapon to be used at long distances for hunting. A striker 12 (semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun) is an up close weapon. This weapon is banned in the states unless you have a specific license.

We aren't talking about selling fully auto weapons here, we are talking about personal defense weapons. But, since you live in a country that has very strict laws and no freedom to own firearms at will without a specific reason, then you will never understand.

This forum is based on Americans' rights, so you really don't have a right to voice your opinion here. I won't try to advise you on your countries rights and regulations, because i don't understand how you and your people feel about them. (I am assuming you are Australian, of course)

I dishonor nothing. Your opinion of me really holds no sway in my life.
I never said is was totally the US beating them back. I was proving a point those countries needed the help from the US.
Again, you go ahead and keep believing in the crap Michael Moore shovels. When the Islamic extremist take over the UK, I am sure that the US will be involved in bailing them out.
As for the Civilized World doing fine, yep you are so right.

Wrong - your countrymen use guns in its military - its police use guns etc.

Thus - your country is not as evolved as it thinks it is.

Tell me - how many people get stabbed? Shot? is there crime in your country? where are you from?

I would love to see how evolved your people are.
