I agree with prank here , you cannot tell sombody what they can and cannot allow in their own business. This is a right everyone should have. Obviously there should be many smoke free places for everyone to go, but just the same there should places for smokers to go. why don't they just ban ciggerettes and free the weed! Oh no that would make too much sense.

absolutely, i agree with both prankmomkey and earthtone

the governments needs to stop taking the moral highground and making a judjments for what they beleive to be the common good (government, morals mmm!!!) that will affect the buisinesses of the common people.

yes i think that health wise something needs to be done to give those who dont want a face full of smoke when eating/drinking in bars etc.a chance to do so, no smoking areas and such, but an enforced smoking ban is the wrong way to do it.

i think that here in britland it will never work the govnment makes so much tax off the back of cigarettes (1 pack of cigaretes= 4.80 ish/ thats almost not much change from $10.00) they would be cutting their own throats.

Cigarettes offer people only a multitude of smoking-related diseases and ultimately death.

This is the main reason I do not want to be around smokers, my parents smoke and when I go to their house I feel like vomiting it #ing STINKS irritates my eyes and throat. and I'm just being real.

now, go through that list and find out just what else those chemicals are in...arsenic....it's in your food, in your meat, can't avoid it, for the same reason you can't avoid it in the tobacco....it's in the dirt , put there by man decades ago, in their pesticides. your cosmetics and perfumes that you wear contains a nice cocktail themselves which I have to breath in everytime I walk into the store, or ride next to you on a bus. And, well, look at the nice selection you pour out into the environment every time you drive your car.....and read the reports concerning global warning....seems like that might kill all of us long before the shs ever has an effect on you.

many of those substances are not naturally in tobacco, the companies put them into them for one reason or another...all the reasons lead to that one grand reason....it means more money for them. they do it in other industries also.

I was working in a print shop when the anti-smoking garbage started....because "they were so concerned about the health of their employees." I found the idea hilarious. Here we are, working in an environment where....guess what....any bird that ventured into the shop would get trapped in...couldn't find it's way out...and by the next morning would be dead!! They chemicals we were expected to play with 8 hours a day, 5 to six days a week were known to cause brain lesions and tumors, cause neurological damage, cause asthma, damage the liver, and a vaste amount of other health problems. But, they are worried about a little shs smoked in a back room that was designated for smokers.

It's a sham, we are killing ourselves with our "technology" but no one wants to admit that one. Na, they like their cars, those nice signs hanging in the store windows announcing the sales for all that unnecessary crap for them to buy, and oh, yes....we need the jobs making the crap......

someone working in a plastics factory increases their risk of liver cancer something like 200%....the increase of risk of the resturant worker from exposure to second hand smoke....30%.
Smokers are being used as scapegoats.
and isn't it interesting that many of the same lawyers who nailed the tobacco companies are now going after the food industries...and not even a month after NY increased their regulations on shs, gee, some idiot state legislature was introducing a bill to place a tax on food!!

I won't work in a place where birds are dying on a regular basis from the chemicals that then tells me to take the cigarette outside, they're concerned for my health....I left!

Just got back from my 4 days at Disney (FL). I was there in 1999 - no problem. Went back in 2000, designated smoking areas in the parks only. Okey Dokey.

The only restaurant by this year I could find where we could smoke was on the Boardwalk in outdoor seating - still fine, great food at that Brewery place.

Each time we go, the highlight no matter where we stayed was final night at the cigar/martini bar in the Grand Floridian (our little tradition). Great house band (swing & stuff) with some real interesting oldtimers performing.

NO MORE CIGAR BAR!!!

You would at least think that the one company that goes out of it's way to accomodate every person/lifestyle, etc. would be able to find somewhere in it's vast empire for us dirty little smokers.

I am so heartbroken - Waaaaaaah!

P.S. The place was pretty darn quiet for a Saturday night. - HELLO???

I dont smoke anymore but i used to- and i can sympathise with the whole outrage on smoking bans in bars- thats silly- people generaly go to a bar to socialise, drink and smoke- i dont go to bars because i dont like smokey areas and im not a drinker, but i do agree with no smoking in resturants, i hate it when i am eating and someone sparks up.

Yeah you may get second hand fumes- but how many other pollutants are you putting into your body everyday just by breathing, eating, drinking etc

I am not saying i enjoy someone sat next to me smoking- i hate the smell of smoke and our flat is a none smoking area ( we make smokers go outside), but to ban smoking in pubs and bars is mad.

That's why these cigar bars are gaining popularity (in cities where it isn't outlawed yet), where people can freely smoke up a storm.

Personally I wish they would make cigarettes illegal which would give
me a good reason to quit.

Or raise the cost to $10-$15 a pack. That'd slow my habit down.

Or put mandatory photos of emphysema and lung cancer patients on the packages.

I think the tobacco industry should be regulated to not be allowed to add any chemicals whatsoever.

We have all sorts of nasty pictures on our packs in Canada, doesn't work. BTW, just because I quit I'm not changing my stance on this, the legislation is wrong.
