An Ontario based conservative group is petitioning Parliament to charge Michael Moore with attempting to influence last month's federal election..Full Story

Apparently it is not only in poor taste for foreigners to attempt to influence an election in Canada but also illegal. Until now I've kind of liked Moore's provocateur schtick but I really can't abide his poking his nose into our business where he doesn't know squat.

The irony would be terrific were he to be charged by his favourite foreign nation.

It does look like the student has a case. The law itself is kind of interesting. I wonder if the US has something similar. If so, John Kerrey's French backing may have to answer some questions. The terrorists would be in even more trouble. Good thing Clinton is done with, his Chinese friends may have gotten in trouble.

We'll have to see if More gets prosecuted. He may never be able to visit Cananda again. Hopefully there is some kind of extradiction pact where we could get rid of him and hand him off to you guys up north.

Ah ha ha...

Should Mr. Moore be found guilty of violating the Act, he could face a $2,000 fine and/or six months in jail, although Mr. Denis doubts Mr. Moore would do any jail time.

He should just send them a check. No. 8,000 Canadian quarters.

Do they even still take Canadian money in Canada?

Kidding. That was my ugly American impersonation. Mike Moore probably wishes they'd arrest him for the publicity.

No, a check for $1,514.20 US would suffice, Mr. Moore would have one of his adoring supporters foot the bill, he's not responsible for anything... even his "own" work.

For me, this falls under the "whatever" catagory. Fine him or not, I really don't care. The election's over and I don't think you can blame the outcome on a guy for echoing what a lot of Canadians were already saying. I don't live to far from there and work even closer and this is the first I've heard of this, so what influence he had, if any, was minimal.

this is a stretch, even to me this is a stretch.

i am all for seeing moore get his "just desserts" like gates when he got a pie in his face, something like that.

but this? this is stupid!

but who doesnt want to see a public figure get pied? thats just funny!

at least it'd be entertaining.
