It is too the volume. The size and scope of the government is directly proportional to the taxation and theft the government creates.

I am a Libertarian, I could care less if someone is marrying their dog and worshipping the purple spaghetti monster.

What I have a problem with, the vast hypocrisy of both sides. See, here is the problem with the marriage component, the government has created special privileges for the marriage license. Remove those special privileges and remove government from marriage and what do you have left? Nothing. A marriage is between two people, that is about it. Some like to swear their sanctity in front of their church.

Tell me, does anyone know when the marriage license was created? It is a very, very interesting timeline and story.

As for everything else, how bout you liberals stand up and call out your politicians for the hypocrisy.

You know, Biden writing the Patriot Act and your peeps reinstating it. Two wars still going on and a president launching drone attacks around the world. Your politicians being in the hip pockets of bid Pharma, Big Lawyers, Big Banks blah blah blah.

See, this is a BIG component of the Tea Party that you do not want to admit. The Neocons are another name for the progressives. They both want absolute control.

I just want one thing mainly. I want absolute individual property rights. I want the government to quit stealing everyone's land and labor. The rest is negotiable.

When I mean property, I am also talking about my body. If I harm no one, I am not breaking a law.

Pretty simple theory.

Anyway, back to the scrum!

Some words of wisdom by a great man. (Astute students of history will recognize this)

The Dangers of Political Parties

political parties must be restrained in a popularly elected government because of their tendency to distract the government from their duties, create unfounded jealousies amongst groups and regions, raise false alarms amongst the people, promote riots and insurrection, and provide foreign nations and interests access to the government where they can impose their will upon the country.

Can you tell if I am a 'liberal' or 'conservative'

Every day my actions are governed by the following needs.

> Friendship
> Security
> Connection
> Autonomy
> Respect
> Fun
> Meaning
> Empathy
> To be heard
> Safety
> Inclusion
> Learning
> Contribution
> Authenticity
> Integrity
> Freedom

These plus more are my motivations for every action or word I speak or write.

There are few problem with liberals in general. They can't take the responsibility for anything and they're always acting like a child. They're preaching equality while they're usually the most racist people. They're always using double standards, hiding the truth away, because if no one speaks about it, it never happened. Liberals are selfish, arrogant liars, nothing more. And if someone is telling what is the problem in general, they're always pointing at others (In the U.S. for Tea Party members. A guy is shooting down few people, it was the Tea Party members. If an asteroid hit the planet, it was the Tea Party members. Whatever happens, it's never your fault. It's always the fault of others, while the problems are usually originating from your very own behavior.).

I don't know how you're calling liberals in the U.S., but here in Europe we have a nice term for them with a reason: Mentally ill.

Don't worry. Conservatives also has their faults. And in politics, both are the same. I agree with some points, but please don't ask me to love liberals whose right now are trying to clean some minority after they've killed three girl in my country and the libs are trying to tell us, noooooooooo, it was an accident. No crime happened. These idiots are usually defending criminals, especially if a minority is killing someone from the majority.

Thanks for calling me mentally ill dude. But whatev, I can tell you didn't understand the whole point of this thread. I have no idea why you think I am somehow very racist. And you're even dissing on conservatives. the whole point of this thread was to stop insulting people based purely on their political idealogy...

In a way, that has its merits, but if a government is small but terrible, it's going to be just as bad as too big. In the end, it comes down to what the government uses its money for. There are so many pointless things we use our money for that we could probably get rid of. It's not that America's government is too big (in fact, we have one of the smallest governments in the first world) but it's that it's using the income it generates irresponsibly.

I agree.

As for everything else, how bout you liberals stand up and call out your politicians for the hypocrisy.

That's what I'm doing, and what everyone who was with me today at my capitol was doing

You know, Biden writing the Patriot Act and your peeps reinstating it. Two wars still going on and a president launching drone attacks around the world. Your politicians being in the hip pockets of bid Pharma, Big Lawyers, Big Banks blah blah blah.

I can't believe you think I like Congress or Obama or anything that's going in DC right now. I really don't. That doesn't mean I'm not a liberal.

See, this is a BIG component of the Tea Party that you do not want to admit. The Neocons are another name for the progressives. They both want absolute control.

Hm maybe you should provide some documentation on that. Neo cons = extreme conservatives to the point of fascism, progressives = normal liberal. They are on opposite ends of the spectrum of politics. Fascists =/= liberal. in the scheme of things, neo cons are really on the opposite end of the political spectrum. What exactly do progressives (like I'd consider myself) agree with neo-cons about?

By the way, you can't just say that a progressive is a socialist or a communist just because you want to. That's not what they are. Socialists are socialists, communists are communists, and progressives are just normal liberals like me. (not to mention, socialist is on the complete opposite end of the political spectrum as fascist, though so not what we were talking about!)

And I think that basing your political choices and votes on those ideals which you listed is much better than just voting for the Democrat or the Republican!

No it's not. Again, it's quality. Quality affects efficiency, size does not. I would rather have a gigantic government that works well and efficiently than a tiny government that consists entirely of guns and corporate lobbyists - which is exactly what you get when your only goal is "small government" - ask Chile.

I am a Libertarian, I could care less if someone is marrying their dog and worshipping the purple spaghetti monster.

There are two types of libertarians. One is simply a liberal who's trying to sound intellectual, or who is perhaps afraid of being called liberal. The other kind is a sociopath who thinks his inability to empathize with human suffering would be a great basis for a political ideology. The only way to tell the difference is to listen to them both at length, which pretty much no one wants to ever do.

What I have a problem with, the vast hypocrisy of both sides. See, here is the problem with the marriage component, the government has created special privileges for the marriage license. I actually agree with you on this.

As for everything else, how bout you liberals stand up and call out your politicians for the hypocrisy.

We do. Seriously, what, do you think we're sitting around, starry-eyed, staring at our posters Pelosi and Geitner and telling each other how dreeeeeaaaaaamy they are? I'll bet you do. 'Cause you've been told that's what we do, and you accept it as gospel. You're a little dancing monkey.

See, this is a BIG component of the Tea Party that you do not want to admit.

Really? The tea party is against the patriot act, is against randomly killing Muslims, and is anti-corporation? Funny, they were completely for all those things two years ago. And from the sound of it, they still are. Especially the dead muslims one.

The Neocons are another name for the progressives. They both want absolute control.

Oh please. The Progressives don't want control. They're too lazy and apathetic. All they want is a made-for-TV cause they can advocate to look hip. The Neocons are filth, but even they don't deserve the comparison to those worthless wastes of meat.

I just want one thing mainly. I want absolute individual property rights. I want the government to quit stealing everyone's land and labor. The rest is negotiable.

But you still want a functional society with all the infrastructure you need to make your life comfortable, huh? Otherwise you could go live in a tent in the woods, eating sticks and wiping your butt with bear cubs or something and realize your dream.

S&F ! Well said! Im not American but i agree with you wholeheartedly, all the pety bickering just muddies the politics and prevents the people seeing the problems they actualy have, and the things we all have in common.

Amen to that! The old "divide and conquer" is strategy from the days of ancient Rome. Worked then, it works now.

Darn shame, too. Look at Japan. After wartime while the USA rebuilt the country and Japan did not have to spend $$$ on military/wartime, they concentrated on working together to capture large retail marketplaces.

Slowly but surely Japan companies worked together and conquered entire product lines in the largest and wealthiest countries. Other Asian countries followed suit, flooding marketplaces with good value products at fair prices.

Meanwhile back in the USA lawyers are working overtime to keep track of incoming and outgoing lawsuits against other American companies. People with hearts that know only greed have little harmony and balance with nature. Their disruptive behavior leads to chaos, unrest and losses. They work against others in the same business and both suffer for it.

Then again, when you go to Japan you mostly have...Japanese. Go to America and you find people from every land of the world. Perhaps it's not just differences in opinions and agendas, but differences in background and culture that work against USA business. I don't know.

No, I never said you specifically. I said those liberals that are hypocrites.

I do not like a lot of the same things that the libs do not like.

Heck, the closest politician to my position is Ron Paul.

But, what you define as control, is completely different than what I consider control.

Any interference by the government is control. Yes, the assumption that fascism and socialism are at the opposite ends of a spectrum, is your mistake. Totalitarianism or government control is the only spectrum I care about.

You can talk about the different types of control all you want, I want nothing to do with it. It is a lie.

Individual rights and responsibility. The government is there to provide a safe and stable currency and enforce the tenet of Life, Liberty and Property. To protect the rights of the individual.

When this basic idea was left, that was the beginning of the trip towards tyranny.

Anyway, good discussion. I can talk to folks like you. Keep it up.

A star to those who brought up the false democracy that is the party system.

The only way to fight the corruption and stagnation of government is to vote Independent. The lobbyists would have a heck of a time trying to control government if every representative had an independent voice.
And, as an added bonus, it would be clear to everyone that we do not choose our head of state, the majority party's leader becomes our de-facto head of state, but we have no say in who that is.

As for those who still lump people under the broad labels of "liberals" and "conservatives" don't you think, that in the real world, someone can take separate issue and analyze the facts and situations at hand without automatically jumping on an ideological bandwagon?
You can, for example, be a conservative on fiscal policy and a liberal on environmental policies... this an amazing concept called "free thinking", and I highly recommend it.

I wouldn't go so far, as to say, EVERYONE. Sorry, but i don't believe in either; liberal or conservative. I'm one that believes in 'GOD GIVEN RIGHTS'.

What amazes me most, is the fact that the MAJORITY of people who say they are awake....are merely....LYING TO THEMSELVES. You can't say, "I'm awake", and you still have a bank account, you still have a credit card, you're still screaming that silliness of 'illegal immigration'. Sorry to bust your bubble, but borders are imaginary lines drawn on a map...or in your mind!

It trips me out to see the 'informed', as ignorant as can be. You're only PARTIALLY informed...but still ignorant. A lie, is a lie, is a lie, is a lie! And, you know what, EVERYTHING that we have been taught....IS A LIE; from beginning to end!

God created man...in HIS image and LIKENESS...and NEVER intended for HIS creation to be ruled by another of HIS creation. It is BIBLICALLY INCORRECT. God commanded for MAN(woman) to: A) Be fruitful and multiply and B) TAKE DOMINION OVER EVERY LIVING THING ON THE EARTH. That point ALONE is the reason SIN entered the world. It had nothing to do with the eating of an apple...it had EVERYTHING to do with ADAM BEING RULED BY EVE; when in FACT.....ADAM should have taken care of business, with his disobedient...HELPER.

Stop letting people rule your lives! If God WON'T control your thoughts...and decisions....why, EXACTLY, do you let another person do so??? Boy, i can't wait for this 'Great Awakening' to happen. When was that date again??? Oh yeah....12/21/12 or 21/12/12...depends how you write it.

Insulting anybody for their held beliefs is indeed a terrible thing. However, let us not forget that passionate debate is a cornerstone of the democratic idea.
It will happen that people view the success of an opponent's idea, as a failure of their own ideas. It is part of the human condition in attempting to discredit the ideas on the other side of the court. It is also human to sometimes feel anger and pride and this will show in your words. No worries.
If you are on this website you have already demonstrated that you are already of like mind no matter what political party you may claim.
