Certainly this goes on, and on.There is no doubt. But the spying and the gathering of information is only a small part of the whole intelligence game.
There is another even seemier side which is the covert ops....
The whole principle of manipulation taken to the nth degree.
Dont you think this attitude that everybody must do it, has ugly connotations for civil spying on your own cyizens?
There does not seem to be any line dividing the legitimate work of the intelligence services, from the political work includung murder sabotage and the fomenting of violent regime changes.
Nowadays the world is being manipulated by various pshops and mind control strategies that are far from any legitimate negotiations or consultations.

It's simple enough to take just about any photos you want, and have it appear perfectly innocent. Generally, you go out looking like a bunch of tourists, and you can often get the home folks to pose with you.

There's another reason for being so blatant about making it known that you are photographing someone. It's to let them know that you note them, that you're paying attention, and that you're now documenting their presence.

If you're just innocent tourists who were hanging around too long, you won't mind.

If you're up to some **** , then that open reaction is going to bother you.

I suppose that explains why the US Government doesn't like you taking pics of them or Public buildings..
They must be up to something..
