Trees dying off

First the animals, and now it seems to be time for the trees. Should we start another list just for veggies?

The Observer reported today. The new variety 'never appeared in Britain before being identified in imported shrubs in a nursery in Sussex.

If the trees are dying then clear cutting the forests should stop immediately (it should have stopped a long time ago). Another link on this would be good if you can find one.

There is a virus : Phytophora ramorum.

Surely ozone level contributes to make it worse too, but the killer has a name already.

O3 makes plants more vulnerable to all sorts of diseases. Reducing O3 is likely the best thing we can do for the planets ecosystems.

I seem to recall reading a month or two ago somewhere the idea that we are in the midst of an extinction event re plants, that they're all going to be replaced by grasses or such.

where i live it's been happening for a while. oak wilt has taken over our old oak trees. it's very sad.

You should grab the camera or phone, make a short video and share it with us.

We have been told to report any sickness in trees. We already have Horse Chestnut Canker.

Thanks for the info. This is when we need all those scientifics around the wolrd to fix the problem, but they are probably too busy creating new weapons.

God knows how much I love trees, I'm so sad for this that I wish a debunker could tell me we are wrong.

S&F for topic matter alone. I'm not convinced of the cause but I can tell you that my trees are definitely dying off. I have 10 acres with over 400 live oaks as well as a few other varieties of trees. This year, at least 8 of my black jack oak trees have died and I am at a loss as to why. I've lived here for twenty years and they've always thrived, but not this year. The trees that died are at least 40 to 50 yrs. old and there's just no reason for them up and die like that.

As Lewis Black would put it; "Something is askew."

The Oak: a Symbol of Strength

However, it can not be denied that a number of ancient oak trees have probably witnessed many changes and historical events of Europe throughout the centuries.

here in Sydney, Australia my local harbour foreshore has been battling a variant of this called Phytopthora cinnamomi...
It affects a particular species of gum and they look like spectral ghosts, all dead and dying - which of course then causes erosion...
