Who among us hasn't heard or said this many times in their life?

As the economical and ecological effects of this world continue to worsen I think a lot of us look back into better memories for solace. It's the small things isn't it?

I thought I would start an ongoing thread that those who wished to could share some of those childhood memories. Be it toys, movies, and family memories, share them here. And as others read through maybe they too will recall that Barbie Bigwheel they loved and remember what it was like then.

Corny? Maybe, but still a little fun.

To mods... I hope this thread is ok. If not pull it with my apologies.

I remember Maude, Hey Kool-Aid, Max Hedroom, Hypercolor tshirts, Swatch watches, and the tv cutting off at midnight after they played Star Spangled Banner. No tv until morning. lol

What about all the ATS'ers?

I remember watching the original star wars and superman at the drive-in and being able to buy my father alcohol/cigarettes with just a signed note from him.

That's the reason I thought this thread would be an "uplifter". Because as soon as you mentioned drive-in movies I instantly remembered a time where several of us piled into the trunk of a car to get into the drive-in movie for less! Porky's was the feature.

Good times!

I remember when there was only 2 cable channels. HBO and WHT ( which was pretty much porn after 8p.m), and cartoons only came on Saturdays. We only watched on the weekends.

I remember when channel 13 (PBS) only had Sesame Street and the Electric Company, and loose cigs were 5 cents.

I miss those days.

Peace, NRE.

I remember when kids got one new bike at christmas and had to make it last for many years... including washing, polishing and maintenance.

I remember when a 5 cent bag of candy was almost too much to eat.

I also remember hardly ever hearing anyone swear or bad-mouth anyone in public.

I remember 3 scoops of ice cream in a single cone with a Bubble'O'Bill on the top only cost 20 cents.

I remember I could get Mum's cigarettes without a note.

I remember taking short-cuts through neighbours property and they would ask us to run to the shop for them.. and we kids did.

I remember at 7pm al the TV channels would have a "Good Night Children" notice so we all got enough sleep for school and the parents could watch their shows in peace... in Black and White... and definately no porn or cable channels back then.

I remember that somewehere between 40 and 50 I forgot a lot of stuff

Oh I had jellies, they hurt and when it was hot... they were hot
. How we suffered with horrible fads, Lee jeans, and the Noid had to go, do you remember how many people got in accidents when it had to be 10-20 minutes or less?

KFC was actually worth the money, and McDonalds tasted good.

Coke and Pepsi, where my worlds biggest conspiracy
. Even though now I choose none. (Pepsi WAS my favorite).

Peace, NRE.

......you went to the store with two dollars, and came back with so much stuff the bag was bursting and your pockets full,
can't do that no more,
too many cameras.

I remember The Hillarious House of Freightenstein
G-Force
Captain Caveman
The Fonz
Night Flight to Venus anyone?
Worst thing we ever did was a drive-by puking.
Irv Weinstein.
Laughter.
Bimbo bimbo on the uncle Bobby show.

Lawn darts.
Clogs
And I remember lolas, those grape flavoured frozen tetrahedrons that cost 5c .
and hair,
serious long Zeppelin hair.

If they were late it was Free! ( that would account for so many accidents) , We Are The World, IMHO as a kid meant that singing it meant that WE were making a difference, how funny is that now?

Rave, their still in business, but have never held my hair the way the did in the 80's
. Going through transitions and finding a good gel was priceless in those days. Your hair was you identity!

Before MTV we had Video Video Box which was the way to be COOL!

If you knew the new vid's you were cool.

Peace, NRE.
