there is no conspiracy in punk. never was. The beautiful thing about punk (back in the late 70's early 80's) is that you had all kinds of differing viewpoints, messages and political stances. Left-wing anarchists like Crass, Nazi's like Skrewdriver, Rastafarians like Bad Brains, Nihilists like G.G. Allin, Minor Threat with the S.E. movement, and the list goes on. Also punk, initially, wasn't limited as far as what the music should sound like. Different bands drew from all kinds of influences such as reggae, garage rock, the mods, "krautrock" like Neu! and Can, hell pretty much anything you can think of (except the dreaded Prog rock). Punk, to me, used to mean total freedom.

Too bad punk was damn near ruined in the 90's with crap bands like Offspring, Green Day, and IMO (sorry OP) NOFX.

Fear rule(d). Lee Ving was so funny with his stage banter, although alot of people didn't get it and thought he was sexist/homophobic etc..

Lee Ving was definitely a character, but a genius none the less. You mentioned GG Allin in your earlier post, that was one show that I didn't want to go to. I appreciated the attitude though.
I was in the scene in the 80's, and punk meant freedom for me as well.
I don't think there is anything current that could be considered the equivalent of what it was then.

Preparing for a GG Allin show was probaly alot like preparing for a Gallagher show.

Of course The Clash were punk!
Do you know anything about the history of punk at all?

Combat Rock had some great moments but Cut The Crap was pretty rubbish, everything prior to that was pure genius.

Punk was, and still is, a state of mind and attitude!

Conspiracy punk?

P.S. Lets get one thing straight. I don't lean to the left or right. Take what you want from my posts, but don't miscontrue the facts! We're on a downward spiral whether you will admit it or not.
