Aaahh.. so it seems you CAN see stars from space
Although I do buy into the idea that the Sun whitewashes most visible stars from view..

Are these pictures fake? The sun isyellow isn't it? or am I missing something?

The sun appears yellow due to light refraction from our atmosphere.. but it all really depends on what equipment you're using to visualize the run.

Check out The Solar & Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). There you can see may different images of the sun, taken from many different types of equipment.

I'd lay odds on the Sun being bright enough to appear white due to over-exposure, whatever.. Color is a trick of the eye and brain; how that light bounces and gets absorbed will dictate it's color.
