I'm glad they started doing this, hopefully it will cause the gullible folks who buy into cons like astrology to look at it with the proper skepticism for once.

Titen-Sxull, astrologers in the West lost touch with the real zodiac a long time ago. Most will NEVER admit it and continue to defend their astrology to the end.

Personally I feel that star signs are more just subjective than anything else - if you can get some comfort knowing that "your sign" has certain traits or goals that you find within yourself then that's great, but I wouldn't live my life missing out on opportunities or trying different things, for example, "those born under xxxxx sign are introverts and don't make friends easily". I don't think you should read that kind of thing and think, "well cool, I guess that means it's fine for me to sit in my basement drinking soda and eating Cheetos, I'm just not a people person". For me, it's like Tarot cards and dream interpretation, I don't find that they are "predictive", just a way of becoming aware of certain things that may or may not be useful. It's just a matter of how literally you take the message. Also, I find it hard to believe that all people born between a certain date regardless of upbringing, culture or era would share the same fundamental qualities.

I never believed in the stuff since they never were right about anything for me. However it was kinda stupid that I used to be half virgo half libra. Every other newspaper had me listed as virgo and every other as libra. At least now I know which I supposedly am

That is, of course, until they make up yet another constellation to add to the astrological calendar!
I'm sure they'll do it again at some point. I never got the point of the horoscopes anyway, as they were all, as you mentioned, too vague to be anything other than guesses.

You put it real nicely. My 'ex' believed in that astrology BS, kept up with her horoscope and went to see this 'palm reader' woman (not all the time. Just caught her a couple of times), and she'd always tell me this or that's going to happen. Drove me up the wall.

You know? Someone is making a killing off with all this 'astro BS' and it has nothing to do with anything. What? You were born when some constellation was high in the night-time sky. Big deal.

I agree with you backinclack. The poor sheeple are aimlessly drifting through life looking for a 'sign' that's not there. Well, as long they aren't killing or hurting anyone, I'll just sit back and laugh at them. Star you.

Yeaht that's what I say to myself in my head too. However it doesn't seem to matter even when horoscopes promise good fortunes in that area

It really isn't "all" bull. I mean, most people think astrology and horoscopes and consider only the sun sign. There is a lot more to a chart than the sun sign, though fake astrologers will exploit that one as far as it will go.

The way I see it, astrology should explain your life, not define it. It's one of those things where YOU figure how who you are as a person, and then astrology is a fun little tool that says where it all comes from or what areas are strongest.

Relax - Your astrological sign didn't change.

But it turns out that rumors that the zodiac is off by a month are largely much ado about nothing.
...
First, most Americans rely on what's called the tropical zodiac. Under this tradition, what matters is when you were born in relation to the equinoxes, not the position of the stars. The constellations simply were used to label the sections of the year millennia ago.

Once a Virgo, always a Virgo.

I think I'm going side with Antar on this one for the time being. We're not even a month into 2011 and a lot of things have been going on and reported that I'm a little confused. I think something bigger is going on here.
First, we have news reports of the huge bird die off.
Second, we have reports of the Tampa airport changing their runway patterns because the magnetic pole is shifting.
Third, we have reports of Greenland being able to see the sun at a time when it's supposed to be total darkness, and on top of that, experiencing much warmer temps in December (+5) than they ever have in history.
Fourth, we have reports of the pole gradually shifting away from Canada towards Russia.
Fifth, we have reports of a horoscope change.
Sixth, we are approaching galactic center as we move closer to 2012.
And now Seventh, NASA reporting a huge solar flare expected to hit earth in 2013 and TPTB have already taken steps to deal with it.

Am i going crazy, or is there something bigger going on here. This is a lot to digest.
