Nothing new. Communists, Anti-Establishment- types have always wanted to kill those who appear more privileged than them. They always need some allegation of corruption or conspiracy to do so.

If they had this rule in the west, there would only be around 10% of the population left.

Not sure how true the story is, as we always know china is hard line anyway.
