And the 11th needed just resigned... meaning the Lebanese government has just collapsed.

That means new elections... that means lots of trouble.

Hezbollah did this as Hariri, the PM of the country, was meeting with Obama.... meaning Obama is meeting right now with a man with no power.

Hezbollah also did this because the UN tribunal on Hariri's father murder is about to make his indictment... which will likely name Hezbollah members as the killers, which Hezbollah said they would not accept and that any attempt to arrest them would end up with war.

And of course, Israel cannot accept Hezbollah taking over Lebanon, by force or elections.

The next few days/weeks will be crucial for Lebanon...

If you want more info, look at the thread I started earlier today :
Lebanon government likely to fall today... Confirmed : will fall today

Likely, this will not change much, Lebanon has been in a state of chaos since the civil war.

I think the better Question would be: "What will Israel do now?"

A smart thing israel should do within this month is to strike Irans nuclear facilities and just put their heads down as the world condemns them. The storm will pass and things will go back to normal, sure Hezbollah controls Lebanon now, but atleast they dont have to worry about Iran...

How the HELL is this a smart thing to do? Do you really think hanging their heads in shame will cut it? More like hanging heads will be cut if such an event(attack on Iran by Israel) would reach such a scale. Smart thing to do for Israel is; instead of lobbying for weapon contracts and such, they should lobby for a green energy revolution so that the powers they are supposedly fighting in Iran would be left with very, very little power - because oil would become irrelevant.

Three guesses as to why this will never happen?

That'd be foolish. Israel has no real authorization to strike Iran without America's say-so. Israel may influence America in terms of politics and foreign policy perhaps but Israel's crutches is still the U.S. and if Israel were to bomb Iran then it could trigger a dangerous chain reaction. And don't think all of those Arab countries subservient to Western rule, especially not Turkey.

What will probably do is influence a new political power in Lebanon to take over so that Israel can have an excuse to "defend" itself against rock-throwers.

Because if they strike iran now then most of the world will not give a crap apart from iran. I fully support iran and hezbollah and i'm an anti zionist, but a strike on iran now would be a very good move for israel... i mean hezbollah is busy. syria wont do anything on its own. iran will probably launch missiles but then what? the more israel waits the worse it gets for them, even ahmedinejad thought israel would strike before November of 2010...

an israeli-iranian war is imminent whether it starts now or in 2020

No one will make oil irrelevant. If you make oil irrelevant then you in turn give up the powerful influence Israel has over Saudi Arabia and the royal family. Also, American oil men would definitely come after you using the CIA.

Israel will do as it wishes and America will always back it up. I know for fact that one day europe will turn against israel, but america is controlled by israel. america is in the middle east and afghanistan just to protect israel. israel will strike iran sooner or later, this will trigger wars and retaliations which will lead to the collapse of the economy and the fall of the US. then israel will be left alone and forced to nuke most of the world bringing forth Armageddon and the arrival of the imam mahdi whos army will come from yemen, iran, iraq, afghan. he will defeat the saudi kings and take back the house of god, he will make peace with israel as long as they live side by side with the palestanians. the land will be called philistine and not israel. the christians will claim hes the antichrist and so the 7 year tribulation will begin in january 2013.

Southern Lebanon is pretty much run by Hezbollah.

I feel sorry for the people of Lebanon. The south has been rearmed since the previous war with Israel. They have more and longer range missiles pointed at Israel. I'm sure that there will be war coming once again to Lebanon.

Sadly, it's the people of southern Lebanon who will suffer the most. However, it's the people in Southern Lebanon who have chosen to align themselves with a violent group... Hezbollah.

In my opinion, that was a bad choice.

You have to be kidding. Israel was created to help the British and U.S. maintain power in the Middle East, not the other way around. You know for a fact that Europe will turn against Israel yet that "fact" is opinionated. America is in Iraq for oil and Afghanistan for the opium fields. That has nothing to do with Israel. The U.S. is trying to further destabilize nations like Pakistan and Iran.

The bombing of Iran is not guaranteed to trigger any wars because many nations do not want Iran to have nuclear weapons so it would be a good thing BUT Israel has to have America's say-so. In fact, if Israel could do what it wants then don't you think they would have done it already? Instead they have assassinate top officials in Iran's nuclear program designed to create setbacks for Iran. And have you forgot Turkey? Turkey is far more powerful than Israel, one-on-one.

Israel gets money from the U.S. No U.S. = Israel's decline. Believe it. None of your prophecy will come true because it is so far-fetched that you have to be trolling.

P.S. imam mahdi? Saudi Arabia is protected by the U.S. and has U.S. and German weapons. How in the heck is an Imam going to stop them? With camels and scimitars? LOL

The issue here is that Hezbo may intentionally start a conflict with israel to divert attention from the Tribunal findings. This could very well plunge the region into chaos.

Ever think they (Southern Lebanese) align themselves with Hezbollah because they are the ones being bombarded and threatened by Israel?

nobody is kidding you, wasteman. If britain and america wanted to control the middle east then all they had to do was control the oil fields in the gulf states, saudi arabia, iraq and iran. Only the oil fields and no more, they would have done that in the 1920s and kept it that way. but the zionist jews had other plans, and thats a home country in the middle east. the jews where moving to palestine way before hitler rose to power, however it was a long and slow process. the majority of the jewish population did not agree with them and chose to live in their homes in europe. those jews were the true semites, if you remember correctly those sematic jews were called sub human and excuted, they were not zionists. the zionists from khazaria believe that their messiah will rule the world from jerusalem, their aim is for a one world government. the USA is in iraq to block iran from the middle east, and its in afghanistan to counter the black banners that are prophesied to come from khorasaan, modern day afghanistan.

do you think the mahdi will come out when the world is like this? when the mahdi comes out the world will be a different place, the sun would rise from the west, the days will be longer, there will be grass in arabia, and electronics will not work... i was hearing a muslim sheikh say that the imam may even have secret technology or helped by outside forces. helped by god or extraterrestrials. pole shift? EMP? nuclear war?

Hezbollah, dack in the day, sent in hit teams and wiped out whole farm and landholder familes in the valley for one reason or the other and took their lands. Mainly over poppy profits.

If Hezbollah comes into power, get ready for a major conflict again in middle east.

Peace in that region is impossible.

Nice try. Always blame Israel first. Never consider the issue any deeper than that.

The problems in Lebanon go back a long ways.

There was the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990)

The Syrian Intervention 1975 ish

PLO and Israel Conflict 1976-82

Israel invasion of Lebanon in 1982 after continued exchanges between PLO in southern Lebanon and Israel.
International Intervention (same time period)

The War of Camps. ... Fighting to force the PLO from Lebanese positions 1985-1989

End of civil war in 91

Peace for a while... till 2005

Not all the fighting in Lebanon is the fault of Israel. Israel gets involved when they are threatened. I wouldn't want to have a border with Lebanon. I don't think that Israel wants that either but they are stuck with this neighbor.

Once again, I feel sorry for the people of Lebanon. They will be the ones to suffer whether it's the civil war again or fighting with Israel.
