i agree with the original post

if people grow up in a violent society/home or if they just want to harm another human being, then that is the problem that needs to be resolved. the legality of owning a firearm does not solve the problem.

...When I'm at work MR Black knows who is supposed to be in the house and who is not. By the actions when the door bell rings when my wife arrives to greet who is at the door you know who is standing by to defend. Mr Black....

And the first thing they do is shoot the dog. When the door opens the guy has the gun in his hand READY. Been there done that - Washington DC 1974. It is why I sleep with a shot gun under the bed now.

All based on 2007 stats cause I'm just too lazy to find current, but they haven't changed enough to ruin the illustration.
Toronto vs Miami...FIGHT!

Toronto:
Population - 4,683,00
Homicides - 2 / 100,000
Robberies - 150 / 100,00

Miami:
Population - 386,000
Homicides - 19.4 / 100,000
Robberies - 767 / 100,000

Winner! Toronto!

Toronto vs Atlanta...FIGHT!

Toronto:
Population - 4,683,00
Homicides - 2 / 100,000
Robberies - 150 / 100,00

Atlanta:
Population - 471,000
Homicides - 34.2 / 100,000
Robberies - 858 / 100,00

Winner! Toronto!

If you really want to compare Canadian city crime rates vs American cities...well...Maybe Winnipeg...

As far as I can tell, guns don't prevent or increase violence.

People do!

Stop looking at guns as if they are the cause or the solution...they are inanimate objects for christs sake.

May I ask what your taxation rate there in CANADA is.

You may...however, it is not relevant.

How about we compare disposable incomes...the moneys we have left after paying for taxes, avg mortagages, avg HEALTHCARE, etc...

Here is a report from one of the big 5 banks in Canada...The Widening Canada-US Income Gap

See, the problem with comparing direct tax rates is that our governments spend our tax dollars on different things...so taxes are no longer relevant. What is relevnat is how much money you have AFTER you pay ALL of your standard expenses.

I know another outdated report (2009) but I am just having a lazy day.

How about those of us that own guns, advocate for the 2nd amendment, but would like to see laws in place to ensure that folks that are completely out of thier mind and are unable to communicate in coherent sentences are not allowed to walk into a sportings good store and walk out with a Glock 19 and several expanded capacity 30 round magazines like Jared Loughlin did?
