No, the US instead maintains military bases there with B-2's.

China NEEDS to seize Taiwan because Taiwan has proved that it has been able to be incredibly succesful away from its communist parent.
It doesn't matter that China is becoming more capitalist. Taiwan is an obvious and neverending slap in the face to the chinese government.
