Indonesia crumbles slowly and more and more areas are flooded. Likewise, many landslides place.

Since 2006 a map of risk areas.

Subsidence throughout Indonesia

At various places along the Trans-Sumatra road, Trans-Kalimantan (Borneo) route and Trans-Sulawesi route landslides have occurred or are certain areas subsided.

Portions of the Bukit Barisan mountain range in Sumatra, crack or subside, a mountain in West Java and is currently tearing about in each other pockets. Some homes were swallowed up by sink holes that were 15 meters deep.

The subsidence of land, hills, mountains, bridges and roads is a phenomenon in recent years throughout Indonesia at an accelerating pace has occurred. Usually it was with heavy rainfall. In extreme cases land sank 50 meters down.

Thank you for assembling the links to the info and putting some attention on this. I don't know what else to say. I know that part of the world is prone to natural disasters but Australia's plight is truly new news to me. I wish them all the best in coping and am so sorry to hear of loss of life and homes and livelihoods. The weather has been harsh and capricious all around and we just don't know whom will be adversely affected next, so it's wise to extend concern and compassion to all and remain vigilant.

i have referenced it elsewhere several times already.
if i could star ya more than once, i would ... i tried, But ...
i am saddened by the sudden upheavals throughout Indonesia but i also feel strongly this is only the beginning. Western Indonesia may soon see incidents like these almost daily.

Its getting real creepy. Yesterday another sink-hole appeared in Germany
