Indeed, the Niqab does...forgive me, Arabic isn't my first langauge .. Hijab is the one I meant..

But lets not get bogged down in an discussion about how I can tell or not, trust me, I am pretty good at this sort of thing and can tell the difference between a Bangladeshi, a Pakistani, an Indian and an English person. Where I lived in Reading there were several white, English girls who had converted, I even spoke to some while in the local grocery store waiting in the queue. I don't judge them for it, each to their own, nice enough girls if a little odd for submitting to such a restrictive lifestyle.

As for the face covering, I am of the opinion it should fall within the same rules as any other face covering adornment, such as a Motorcycle helmet. Don't wear them indoors, especially in shops and banks. I do not see why a person from one creed can cover themselves and be anonymous in a Bank when I have to show my face. It's supposed to be one rule for all, but for some reason certain groups get special treatment, lest they whinge and whine by calling for the death our Queen/Soldiers/Children or Country.

I read a couple of months ago about the growing number of UK women converting to Islam. The consensus that seemed to emerge from the interviews of the various women is that they found the "liberal" lifestyle of over expectation on them to have casual sex, drink, do drugs, and live a generally materialistic lifestyle left them feeling empty and less free. They also felt they were being judged on superficial things like appearance and felt pressure and depression from that. They chose Islam over Christianity because they could don garments as an outward expression of their beliefs and let the clothes speak for them sort of in the way a nun's habit broadcasts to others that the nun holds a certain belief system and is to be treated accordingly. Basically what it boiled down to is the women were sick of being treated like sex objects and being pressured by peers to live a matrialistic lifestyle, and wanted to be judged on their other qualities, but were too afraid to speak out. Wearing traditional Muslim dress does the talking for them as well as provides an "excuse" that their peers have to accept and even respect for their withdrawal from the liberal western lifestyle.

It is interesting to note the women aren't afraid to take criticism for their choice of embracing a controversial religion, but they were afraid to speak out against societal norms they no longer believed on their own and had to use religion as a sort of crutch to break free. Women seem more prone to this than men for reasons I think we can all guess at. The sexual revolution wasn't as liberating for females as my mother's generation could have hoped and between std's and other drawbacks it isn't for every woman. Unfortunately now in western culture it's somewhat expected that all women will be sexually liberal whether or not they truly are comfortable with the concept or not.

Oh yeah,,,lol, and some did convert just to please a Muslim boyfriend. So yes, some of that is going on, too.

I was saying and making the point when you join the army its only neutral to show loyalty to the army that you joined and thus despite what religion you belong to you cant say in front of every soldiers, commanders that your religion will be taking over the world.

Regarding the Italian riot did the moslems have a just cause for rioting or an unjust cause. People have a right to riot if something is unjust and all other sources of justice have been denied.

I would contend from personal experience, over decades, that most moslems are law abiding people. Don't forget it takes only one fundamentalist suicide bomber to take out a whole block.

You know if they want Sharia they can go back in the middle east, if they are rioting about the unjust European law justice system, the door is always open to leave.

People have a right to riot if something is unjust and all other sources of justice have been denied.

People don't have a right to riot if something is unjust they can protest peacefully, rioting is an act of terror and violence plus an civil disorder.

I don't care if they want Sharia law and only involve themselves in it. If they want me to get involved I would fight all the way. The Jews have their own laws and I have no problem with their Beth Din.

If like Jewish folks the Muslims can incorporate shariah law for domestic issues whilst never overriding British law i see no problem. British law is till being upheld at the end of the day....

ah yes, a fool speaks his mind. i was born and raised christian and am happy to see more muslims. i am no longer christian and am now agnostic. i see muslims as a lesser of the 2 evils. though really islam would be 3rd, behind judaism and christianity of course.

Trust me i have a clear understanding on what Sharia law, you Islamic apologists i have seen the Sharia on the internet and in a few libraries here from what i understand the Sharia law allows the Stoning to Death, forbids women from having adultery and some other things i don't want to post.

We have sex Offenders galore, Porn, Prostitution that seems to go beyond intercourse and has now hit perversion of unprecedented levels.

We have child abuse and denial of it in the Catholic Church of Rome. Need I go on?

Do you understand how laws are made inthe UK?? Please explain the mechanism by which Islam can change the UK legal system.

the government will always champion the concept of tolerance. once the balance is seen to be shifting in favour of one interest/belief over others it will be redressed. the reality of equality is far from perfect however anyone and everyone who is seen as causing distress to others or inflaming intolerance will be dealt with through the rule of law.
most people in the uk are good citizens. it is the small minority of bigots on all sides that tarnish the good name of their tribes.

I haven't got time to read every reply but it's ironic that this site's slogan i 'Deny Ignorance' Ha! This place is full fo some of the most ignorant closed minded people on the planet.

The people who live in isolation thinking that muslims are going to take over the UK or the world need a reality check and certainly need to get out more. I also live in the Midlands of England (i noticed another poster does) and live in an area with Muslims, Seikhs, Hindu's, Jews, Christians (orthadox, catholic, protestant), Buddhists etc and most live in perfect harmony. Yes there is crime but it stems from all religions and cultures. Infact, guess who is fighting, stabbing, robbing and raping etc in the most cases... yep it's the white british with a massive ego and everything to prove. Council estate trash that think they have to ride around the estate on quads and mopeds through the night, put their neighbours windows through because they parked outside their house and generally give Brits a bad reputation.

Please open your eyes and jump into the real world. Your beloved America has plenty of it's own problems (you know who I'm speaking to) so don;t worry about us... we're doin' just fine (apart from our messed up pansy party government).
